Hello, friends-

As you've probably gleaned (if you've thought about it at all), I haven't been focusing much on writing songs and playing under my own name, but that doesn't mean I haven't been making music. Here are some things I've been up to, including some chances to come see and hear things in real life!

1) Death Spa, the ridiculously bananas kickass band I play bass in, have finished our debut album and will release it . . . eventually! In the meantime, Heathen Fawn is releasing a cassette single, which we're celebrating this Friday at Bad Bar.

2) Passenger Pigeon, the thing I call it when I do improvised looping music with my baritone guitar, released a new track recently. Originally recorded for the gargantuan Caverns of Gold compilation for hurricane relief in Western North Carolina, if you buy it from me directly I will send any funds to the North Carolina Justice Center.

2a) I'm playing as Passenger Pigeon this Thursday at the Chapel Performance Space with super-genius musicians Leanna Keith and Kate Olson, all indulging our loopy improvisational sides. We did this earlier in the year at Royal Room and it was a delightful evening. Hope you can make it for this one.

3) Local treasure Richard Peterson has released a new collection of Christmas music, including a couple of songs for which he enlisted my vocal 'talents.' If you're looking for a new addition to your holiday listening playlist (and I know I always am), I heartily recommend The Richard Peterson Orchestra Plays Christmas.

On a non-musical note: as you're probably aware, we're in for a whole bunch of crap on a national level over the next few years. I hope you're able to take care of yourself and each other, and engage in whatever way you're able to minimize the damage. That can look like a lot of things. Here's a helpful list Mariame Kaba shared of actions you can take that aren't protesting or voting.

I would add: CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE IN CONGRESS AND THE SENATE. Put their numbers in your phone. Call them weekly or daily if you can. Even if you know they don't agree with you, or know they do, they need to hear from you. Tell them what's important to you and what they need to do to keep or win your vote. Personally, I will be reminding mine not to give an inch on support for the rights and well-being of trans people; I hope you will too. (If you have Republicans representing you, there's language you can use around personal liberties, nanny state intrusion, public safety, reining in spending, etc., depending on the issue at hand.)

Oh, and if you've made the leap to Bluesky, as many have lately, you can find me at denimclature.bsky.social - or denimclature.com, if I get my act together on the custom domain verification.

Thank you for listening,

Levi
