    Responsibilities

    This a learning support faculty position with a working title of Mission Assistance and
    Learning Analytics Specialist. The position provides support to key computer science and learning analytics support to learning activities across the DoD acquisition workforce.
    Duties:

    1. Analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques and present verified results for presentations or dissemination.

    2. Maintain currency with field data collection procedures, data retrieval and techniques, and computer software analysis packages in order to perform specialized data retrievals, prepare clear and accurate reports of the study results, including recommendations for improving the data collection process or methods of compensating for existing data limitations.

    3. Provide strategic ideas and support for the modernization of databases and software systems, write and articulate system requirements, track, manage, and coordinate tasks, and maintain project documentation.

    4. Participate in and perform data cleansing activities. Identify inadequacies and inconsistencies in data, presenting options and recommendations for modification of data sets.

    5. Usage of query and reporting analysis tools.

    6. Extract data from databases and data warehouses for reporting and to facilitate sharing between multiple data systems.

    7. Develop and maintain data visualizations in departmental or enterprise systems.

    Qualifications

    You must have one year of specialized experience at the AD-1550-A (GS-11) grade level in Federal service or an equivalent position in the civilian sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities: Successfully perform the duties of the position. You must demonstrate experience in: 1) Computer Science/Mathematics/2) written communication
    1. Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
    2. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
    3. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
    4. Other: Effective communicator, both oral and written, to all levels of leadership to include both internal and external interfaces.
    5. Ability to effectively work independently or on teams and with all organizational levels in performance of duties.
    6. Ability to gather, interpret, analyze and evaluate data, and present actionable information to leadership.
    7. Competence in the rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis. Exhibit proficiency in many different Microsoft applications such as Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

    • Initial appointment is made for a period of four years, conditional upon satisfactory completion of a DAU probationary period of one year. Every year, as part of an annual review, consideration is given to extending the appointment; thus service at DAU can be extended indefinitely.

    • Initial Probationary Period: You will be required to serve an initial probationary period of 1 year if one has not already been completed.
