Abstract: In February 2018, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) created the Data & Analytics Division to support strategic decision making at the Office of Naval Research. The Data & Analytics Division provides in-depth analyses of the Naval Research Enterprise portfolio to enhance mission effectiveness for U.S. Naval Forces. This new division established a Chief Data Officer position, filled by LCDR Nick Benes, and a Chief Analytics Officer position filled by Dr. Ryan Zelnio; both report to the division director, Mr. Matt Poe.  This talk will discuss how the group was formed, what they have accomplished, and highlight some of the successes and lessons learned during the first year of operations.
