Ilooked it up just now, couldn't find much. I asked AI about it and it said it could be related to any bethesda mods you have on your save file (it was talking about skyrim, not sure if fallout 4 even has mods) but if fallout 4 does have mods it might be worth looking into removing them, saving, then trying to upload the unmodded save.
What i did was. Go to your save files on the playstation settings, the look for the fallout 4 save files you probably are going to have 2 different saves files, the most recent is the actual save files and the older one is the settings and control sabe files, delete that and it should work
I found that if I have two different types of PS4 Fallout 4 saves (e.g. disc and digital) on the console at the same time it will cause the error. If I delete one of them, leaving just the digital copy saves for example, it then works fine. Either backup the saves to the cloud or USB drive before deleting if you don't want to lose them.
I am using Vortex version 1.5.13 to mod Fallout 4. I am using Windows 11, x64, and I have 32gb of RAM. I have 85 mods in my mod list. No mods have been changed since last launch (or in the past few weeks).
Now Fallout 4 does not recognize my save games as existing. They are still there in Documents/MyGames/Fallout4/Saves. The only option is to start a new game. Load or Continue are not available. As far as I can tell, nothing else has updated overnight.
The extension update would've fixed a bug with one of the other games in the app. Nothing has changed for Fallout 4 in a long time. If you click "Open save games" on the toolbar, does it take you to the correct folder?
That is the strange part. The folder is still there, and when I click on "open save games" they are all there in the correct folder. Yet nothing shows up in the Fallout menu when the game is launched.
@Pickysaurus: I'm beginning to think the same thing. I just don't know how any files would have gotten changed between shutdown and startup. Only reason I asked here was because of the extension restart before launching the game. Oh well, we shall see.
Turns out that the .fos (Fallout Save) files had all somehow been moved to the Steam directory in program files. The f4se (script extender) pointer files were still in the normal save directory on my E: drive which is why they showed up when I looked under Vortex save games. No idea how that could have happened as I just shut down the PC and started it up again in the morning. Copied the .fos files into the save directory and all ran fine again. Thanks for the responses; got me thinking on the proper track.
Sony also recently increased their Cloud storage capacity from 1 GB per system to 10 GB per system. In other words, you can upload 10 GB worth of save data for PS4 games, 10 GB for PS3 games, and 10 GB for PS Vita games, for a total of 30 GB across all PlayStation systems.
Considering that a Fallout 4 save game is approximately 5 MB in size (on PC), you could upload about 2000 different save files for Fallout 4 to the Cloud, so space shouldn't be an issue any time soon.
Just don't forget to save the game in the first place. Your PS4 won't be able to upload your victory against a Super Mutant Behemoth, if the save file doesn't exist in the first place, after all. Don't forget to configure your PS4 properly, so it can auto-upload those files too, unless you enjoy manually uploading them instead.
However, just keep in mind that if you're talking about saving "Survival mode" game saves, you are only allowed to keep 3 created saves at a time (per character). This is due to the fact that you're only allowed three "autosave" saves per character, and that Survival mode only allows you to make autosaves (through the "sleep" function).
In addition, you're also allowed an exit save (which is erased once you continue that save) and the rare hard save that is automatically made by the game at certain points in the game (for example, directly before leaving Vault 111, and midway through the "Curtain Call" quest).
I only mention this because it wasn't something obvious to me (I just assumed all of my saves were being saved in storage), and it wasn't until a ways in that I realized all of my earlier saves had been perpetually written over, with only my three most current saves being available.
All that said, assuming you have PS Plus, enough free storage on your PS4, and an external hard drive, you can feasibly keep up to 9 different save files at a time (per character), with 3 on PS Plus, 3 on the PS4, and 3 on the external hard drive. Not very elegant or practical (especially with Survival mode being the most difficult setting and much easier to die on than the other settings), but it's something, at least.
I can't get Fallout to recognize the cloud saves, in fact I tried to download the cloud save using the PS4 app in settings. It says that the game is not installed when it clearly is and works. But cloud won't download it... I borrowed a copy for the first 25 hours, then got my own copy and that copy works, I can start a new game, but it does not see the saves.
So, no, Fallout 4 does NOT work using cloud saves. Perhaps each disc has its own serial number or something, and if so, f Bethesda... I haven't had any issues with any other PS4; I regularly borrow games, and sometimes by my own copy afterwards and those saves work.

Fallout 4 is a popular post-apocalyptic role-playing game. Where is Fallout 4 file save location on your computer? How to find Fallout 4 save game files and config files? This post from MiniTool Solution contains all the information you want.
Usually, the files of a game like Fallout 4 can be re-downloaded, but the game saves are irreplaceable because it stores all the achievements you have gained in the game. Once Fallout 4 saves is lost, you need to play the game from scratch.
As for the Fallout 4 config files, they are used to configure parameters and initial settings for Fallout 4. In other words, Fallout 4 Game Saves hold the in-game progress made by you, while the config files contain all the customization values needed to run the game.
At times, mod files might lead to issues like Fallout 4 freezing, saves failure to load, missing data, and so on. To keep your current game progress, it is highly recommended to back up Fallout 4 saves with MiniTool ShadowMaker.
- being close to the reserved amount of space for game data (PS4 and maybe PS5 only). A tell tale sign of this is likely to be the infamous 0kb glitch on PS4/PS5, which will not allow to continue creating new saves or overwriting old ones on the same play through.
I had that problem when I built too much stuff in Kingsport Lighthouse and then saved there. I do not use mods. The only way to fix it was to go back to a previous uncorrupted save, and then make sure to leave the Kingsport area before saving the game from then on. Sucked because I liked my build there.
At the end of the Silver Shroud side quest in Fallout 4, you will be tasked with saving Kent Connolly, a ghoul who operates the Silver Shroud Radio Station in the Commonwealth. However, doing so will prove extremely tricky because you will need to defeat Sinjin, a Raider gang leader, and his followers before they kill Kent in the process.
Luckily, there are a few methods you can use to make saving Kent a ton easier. If you are successful, you'll be rewarded with one of the best armor sets in the game, making it worth taking the time to learn how to save Kent in Fallout 4.
The first way is by choosing the option to Speak as the Shroud all three times, which will cause Sinjin's followers, including Avery, to run to the various corners of the room. Doing so will cause them not to attack you when you fight Sinjin. However, Sinjin will immediately attack Kent, so you must kill him before he does. Since you won't have to worry about his followers, you can focus all your efforts on Sinjin, making it easy to kill him quickly using the method below.
