Tafsir Ibn Kathir English Translation

Whenthe Prophet, (peace be upon him) prayed to Allah for his cousin, Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) to give him the understanding of His Book, it was the beginning of an era of Tafsir. The second generation of the Muslims (Tabiyeen) after the Sahaba, had six focused students who took lessons of Tafsir from Ibn Abbas ( Allah be pleased with him) and conveyed them to the next generations which is now preserved in the books of The Tafsir of Quran.

Ibn Kathir holds a landmark position in Tafsir of Quran. He gives extensive cross reference from the Quran when explaining a particular Aayat. Then adds incidents from Hadith along with the quotes of notable Sahaba and their students. Qatadah, Mujahid, Ikrimah were among the popular students of Ibn Abbas who are extensively quoted in Tafsir Ibn Kathir. Besides them Ibn Kathir also quotes ibn Jareer at Tabari and Sufyan at Thawri.

Iban Kathir was the student of Ibn Taymiyah and along with Tafseer ibn Kathir, he has also compiled the universal historical events in a book with 14 volumes - Al Bidaya wal Nihaya- Ad Dhahabi, a noted scholar of seventh century Hijri and also a student of Ibn Taymiyyah said wrote about Ibn Kathir - He is the Imam and scholar of Jurisprudence, skillful scholar of Hadith, renowned Faqih, and scholar of tafsir who wrote several books.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir is the benchmark of tafaseer (plural of Tafseer) and most of the contemporary Mufassir of Quran, have widely borrowed and quoted from Ibn Kathir. Ahsanull Bayan in Urdu and Mohsin Khan in English are two popular summarised Tafseer of Quran that made Ibn Kathir as the foundation of their Tafaseer. The Urdu language translation has been in India Pakistan for the past few decades and the English Translation of Ibn Kathir along with other languages has been translated and printed by DarusSalam Publications - Riyadh.

This conversation supposed to be in tafsir ibn kathir, tafsir of (Qur'an 7:23) But i checked and can't find the same conversation as in YouTube. Do anyone know where this conversation is from?

وقال السدي عمن حدثه عن ابن عباس : فتلقى آدم من ربه كلمات قال : قال آدم عليه السلام : يا رب ألم تخلقني بيدك قيل له : بلى . ونفخت في من روحك قيل له : بلى . وعطست فقلت : يرحمك الله وسبقت رحمتك غضبك قيل له : بلى وكتبت علي أن أعمل هذا قيل له : بلى . قال : أفرأيت إن تبت هل أنت راجعي إلى الجنة قال : نعم .

Adam said, 'And You destined me to commit this evil act' He was told, 'Yes.' He said, 'If I repent, will You send me back to Paradise' Allah said, 'Yes.'' '

Added Features: The work also includes some features of added value, such as including both the Arabic (with full tashkeel) and English for all ayaat and hadeeth narrations mentioned in it, as well as footnotes with the references for the hadeeth narrations. The work also includes topic headings in both the main text and the table of contents, which help the reader to better grasp the discussions at hand. Also, the translation itself is written in plain and accessible language.

All of these features of the original and the efforts made by those involved in the abridgement and translation combine to make a work of great merit. At the time of this writing, the Dar-us-salam translation of Tafsir ibn Kathir can safely be said to be the single most valuable work of tafsir produced in the English language to date due to its authenticity and its comprehensiveness. It would be a recommend resource for any family library, for those who cannot understand Arabic or are learning Arabic, and for anyone seeking to gain a sound understanding of the Book of Allah according to the methodology of tafsir modeled by the salaf and articulated by our scholars.
