NarratorIn this tutorial, we will install NVDA from its installer file downloaded from the web. The file can be downloaded from
nvaccess.org/download. This is the only step in these tutorials that you may need to ask for help getting started, but once we run the installer, we can use NVDA totally independently. Let's start the installer now. If were running another screen reader, it's probably best to stop it after NVDA begins speaking
Narrator: We are now in the license agreement. Press the down arrow to move line by line through it. When finished, press the TAB key to navigate to the "I agree" checkbox. I'll press TAB now.
Narrator: The installer will instruct you to activate the continue button to install. Press the tab key to navigate to continue button. You will pass over two checkboxes that you can toggle with the spacebar if you want, but we recommend leaving both options checked.
Narrator: Now press ENTER to start the install. Depending how your computer is configured, you may be presented with a dialog box that NVDA cannot read. You will know if this dialog is open because you will hear NVDA speak "Secure Desktop" and hear this sound:
Narrator: This dialog is asking for permission to make changes. Hold alt and press y to allow the changes and dismiss the dialog. You will hear a beeping sound while NVDA is being installed, and it may take a few minutes to complete depending on your computer.

Screen Reader: (Closing chime) (Opening chime) Welcome to NVDA dialog. Welcome to NVDA! Most commands for controlling NVDA require you to hold down the NVDA key while pressing other keys. By Default, the numpad insert and main insert keys may both be used as the NVDA key. You can also configure NVDA to use the CapsLock as the NVDA key. You can press NVDA+n at any time to activate the NVDA menu. From this menu, you can configure NVDA, get help and access other NVDA functions. Options Grouping.
