For those who’re bitten by the adventure bug and feel the city is a tad too ‘‘boring’’, there’s a breath of exciting, fresh air. The
UT administration has decided to airlift Chandigarh’s tourism potential by planning regular parachuting activities in Sarangpur.
With the Indian Air Force’s green signal already in pocket, the administration is likely to develop a vacant land in the area, acquired for projects like Education City, for the facility.
‘‘The activity is quite outstanding. It is very safe,
controlled and would give a new dimension to the city’s attractions.
Chandigarh, which has unique heritage buildings, and stands as a symbol of new
and developed India, is a perfect place for the launch of this
activity,’’ reads the proposal. Issues like safety would be examined
before a final nod is given for the project, which sounds very interesting as it
would give Chandigarh a lead in the region
