Lets Get Growing
Come and join us this Saturday......
Come and visit us at Otumoetai Railway reserve: 9am - 12pm, Saturday 14 August.

There continues to be exciting progress at the gardens each weekend, with another
successful work day last Saturday despite the rain.  The orchid (sounds very posh)
is looking fantastic!  We are so grateful to those that turn up and generously
give some of their weekend.

Please do feel free to pop down during our working bees and say hello, even if
you can't stay to help....mind you a hot thermos or batch of scones
would be almost as welcome as your encouraging visit ;)

To find out more see www.letsgetgrowing.org.nz

"We were really encouraged that Kevin randomly turned up and pitched in last
weekend.  He was on holiday from Invercargill and had never heard of our
community garden.  He was revisiting the site because it used to be
the singlemans Railway workers camp where he lived many years ago!  In the
photo below he is showing us the exact spot where his hut was......this land
has an amazing history, of which we are discovering more about each week"

i am pleased to be moving forward with this project, but i was a
little concerned with part of the newsletter.
but with the tragedy in the family i didn't get to address it before
it went out.
my concern was the prayer meeting, not so much with the meeting its
self (i am a very very religious man & today is my "xmas"),
but in maintaining our secular image. we are working "with" a number
of churches (no temples or other)
as you know i would not have joined if it this group had have been run
by a religious group, rather than privet as it is.
i know there are others out in the community who feel as i.
i would just like to see it stay in that fashion.
i hope this doesn't put any one out.

Reon.
