Welcome to the Lets Get Growing community garden - Tauranga's first allotment style garden!
Please come along to our first ever gardeners meeting this coming Wednesday, 3rd
Nov, 5.30pm (at the gardens) to hear about the opening celebrations and
plan how we can achieve a fantastic event we can all be proud of.
We have much to celebrate as the gardens burst into life – and we intend to do just that at an ‘official’ opening on Nov 20th (4 - 7pm…. Mark your calendar)
Agenda:
Welcome to everybody - where we are now and where we have come from :).
Intros
Building our community - how we can be involved to work together
Plans for the opening - what we want to do for the opening day
We look forward to getting to know you and trust you will gain more than ‘just vegetables’ from being involved!
See you Wednesday evening at the gardens :) Please pass on to anyone that might have been missed in this email -

We hope to get the other two plots filled soon. I'm currently unable to lift as
have stitches front and back of shoulder, this will slow me down until healed,
but if anyone can help Deborah prepare the beds that would be great.
We have a few herbs waiting to be planted, some to be moved to more appropriate
locations and still trying to source other herbs without too much expense.
We are putting a list together, at this stage I know we are after more Echinacea
(only have one and too late to raise from seed) and Golden Rod, hopefully the
Tauranga or Katikati Herb Society can help, but if anyone else can help please
email me back.
We are also very keen to see an Elderberry tree planted somewhere, we may be
able to start one from a cutting or could approach Koanga Gardens for a
donation/discount ... they cost $17.
We are also after a lemon tree, preferably one we can standardise, to go in the
box planter at the back of the garden.
It would be nice to get some pavers for a path up to the seat, then we could
work on getting fragrant chamomile (Roman) and thyme ground cover growing around
them.
Thats the plans at this stage.
Thanks.

I have an echinacea plant that I could divide. I have decided I want to
keep my elderberry tree, but I am happy
to make a cutting from it, if that would help.
I wish you super healing. What happened to your shoulder?
Warm wishes
Julia
