Well, I have a few more of these to finish up for my pals so I better get back to the crafty table! If you are facing any transitions right now in your life, I hope they are as smooth as chocolate for you too! Thanks for stopping by!
Start by making two stencils out of the cardboard: one circle and one triangle. I just Googled the shapes, sized them, and traced right from the computer. I drew three straight horizontal lines on the triangle shape to make the pattern for the candy corn.
Next I used two pieces of white felt to trace the triangles on, cut straight edges with my straight ruler and rotary cutter, and rounded the edges off with scissors. I ended up with 32 white triangles. I then cut the triangle stencil up to use the pattern for the middle and bottom pieces of the candy corn. I used one piece of orange felt and one piece of yellow felt to cut the candy corn strips. I ended up with 32 orange pieces and 32 yellow pieces.
Time to sew! I simply fed each circle, back to back, through the sewing machine. I then sewed the candy corn right across the bottom of the white tip. Try not to sew through the dried hot glue, it will gum up your needle and possibly cause it to break! I repeated until I had sewed all of the pieces together. I made sure to leave a bit of excess thread at the beginning and end of each strand to help me hang them up.
These felt mittens are so festive and cute and fun to make! They can be filled with some Extra Gum, candy canes, money or gift cards! They make the best stocking stuffers or an easy, yet memorable gift for a teacher, friend, neighbor, or co-worker.

This candy bar casserole is the result of us only having 12 trick or treaters last night. The clock ticked 8:30 p.m. and I stared at a full bowl of wrapped treats. An idea popped in my head: a Candy Bar Casserole! I looked it up and saw some variations on Pinterest so I knew it was a viable idea.
With the other end of the ribbon, hot glue and wrap it around the end of the dowel. Hot glue saves the day again and now you have a candy cane fishing pole. Remind everyone playing not to hit the candy cane into the floor because it will break. Definitely have an extra candy cane fishing pole or two.
I used this cute bucket from the Dollar Tree. Inside the bucket, put something to help the candy canes stay up on the edge so they are easier to fish for. A small paper snack bowl works perfectly to hold the candy canes up.
Put your center piece in, then add the candy canes all around. Guiding the candy cane fishing pole to the bucket is harder than it looks. This Christmas class party game was a challenge last year for the kids, but they loved it.
For the class party, the basic fishing was perfect (plus you are on a time crunch), but for a Christmas party or family fun, you could make the game more interesting. On each candy cane have a strip of paper that gives a direction, example- take an extra turn, sing a Christmas song, etc. That would be a great twist on an already fun game.
