Either way, you should be migrating to Blynk IoT, as Legacy has not been developed for quite a few years, and is no longer supported and the legacy cloud servers will be decommissioned at some point - causing all legacy projects to stop working.
Fraudsters are increasingly targeting social media accounts as a means to trick victims into giving up personal information, sending money, or clicking on dangerous links. According to the Identity Theft Resource Center [*]:
Facebook Messenger scams occur when fraudsters use the Messenger app to con Facebook users into sending money or gift cards, giving up personal information that could lead to identity theft, or clicking on malicious links.
The possibility of losing money to a Facebook Messenger scammer can be devastating, but an even more serious consequence is the loss of sensitive personal information which puts you at risk of identity theft.
Sometimes, these links lead to fake websites that prompt you to enter login credentials so the scammer can access your accounts. Other links contain malware that can infect your device with a virus that steals sensitive data.
Scammers sometimes pose as Facebook friends who need help gaining access to an online account, and want to send you a two-factor authentication (2FA) code. In reality, the scammer has already found your login information (username and password) and only needs a 2FA code to gain access to your account.
Fraudsters send phishing messages claiming they recently received thousands of dollars through a new government grant and encourage their targets to apply [*]. But the applications often request sensitive information, such as your Social Security number (SSN), bank account information, or credit card number.
Posing as a friend in an emergency situation is the oldest Facebook Messenger scam in the book. But recently, scammers have added a fresh twist to this scam with the help of face and voice-altering technology.

To set up security measures to make your account more secure, Facebook will suggest you turn on the two steps-authentication. It will request that you choose a method for receiving security codes in case you would like to log into your account with a different device or browser. However, if you add more than two phone numbers or emails, your account will be flagged as suspicious by Facebook, and as such your account can be locked temporarily.

What is a Messenger Code? Or should I say what was a Messenger Code? It was a QR code but with a nice design specific to Facebook Messenger. It was similar to a regular QR code in that it is just helping users follow a link without having to type it in. The difference is that Facebook Messenger Codes would take you directly into a Facebook Messenger Chat. This article will explain what Facebook Messenger Codes were and how they transformed back into regular QR codes.
When using an
m.me link, you're sent directly to
messenger.com on desktop or to the Facebook Messenger app on mobile. Once loaded at chat with the business that owns the Facebook page is open directly.
Thus the Facebook Messenger Scan Code was only unique in that it had a nice design. Above you can see that using the Facebook Scan code was much nicer than adding a generic QR Code. However, the Facebook Messenger Scan Code had its problems.
In fact, it was so difficult to use, we had to print instructions on the back of the business card. Even then, only the techiest of the tech nerds actually succeeded in using it. So in a way, the Facebook Messenger Code was a flop.
In short no. In 2019, Facebook was on a feature killing spree for the Facebook Messenger app. It was designed to make the Facebook Messenger app smaller, faster and easier to use. In the process, they deprecated Messenger Codes.
Hotels are one of the places where convenience is key. How awesome would it be if instead of calling down to for room service or with a question? Your hotel guest would simply message your Facebook page.
That way you would have time to respond and a single concierge could handle multiple conversations at once. After they scanned that Facebook QR Code, your guest could always continue chatting with you for more advice through their own phone.
Malls are some of the most notoriously difficult places to find your way in. Even though malls have adopted big boards with maps and even made their own apps. I would still prefer to just ask someone where the store I am looking for is.
One problem with that, is first I have to find the concierge desk. And for me, that is a struggle. Oh how I wish there was a Messenger QR code you could scan and simply ask the concierge where the store is. Who knows, maybe in 2020?
Things are a lot more straightforward these days. Almost every camera app supports regular QR Codes. That means all you have to do is open up your camera, scan the Messenger QR Code and the Messenger app will open directly to the conversation.
Generating a Messenger QR code from
respond.io is a straightforward process with minimal steps involved. To get started, navigate to Settings > Growth Widgets. Then, select QR Code and click Create Widget.
Imagine you have a chain of pizza restaurants and you'd like to post Messenger QR Codes at every location. At some point, you may get curious about which locations your new Facebook Messenger audience is coming from. This is when a reference can be useful.
My Facebook account has been disabled and the only method of receiving a security check code is SMS to my Verizon Android phone. I did not receive any SMS from Facebook, and I exceeded my attempts to receive the code for 24 hours. I cannot get into my Facebook account settings to check if the carrier is listed correctly, or to see if SMS messaging is turned off. Facebook does not offer customer support, and their help articles say "Contact your cellphone carrier"
Gee are you always so helpful to other people in life when they have troubles with something? Myself if I figure something out tech wise I am more than willing to share the solution to help others but I tend to help a lot of people in life with stuff. The way I was brought up I guess.
Most cases when it's a verification code send to your phone, it's filtered as spam. I believe it's to prevent other people getting on your account and overriding all of your other stuff. If someone hacked your VText, then they can just send everything to the phone to reset all your passwords for other accounts. I believe it's preventative measure and it terrible. But there's a reason for it.
Most get caught and filtered. Some make it through.
Mostly the major ones don't get through.
I know Google, PNC Bank, Venmo and even Verizon doesn't not go through. So it totally terrible when you need to check texts, but don't have your phone. You can't log on which sort of defeats the purpose of what I use it for.
