I have tried Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and am not happy with the user interface and functionality. I would like to reinstall the older version. Adobe's web site indicates that installing the older version is possible, but whenever I proceed with the download it defaults to Acrobat Reader DC. How can I find and install the older version? Thanks.
Can you help me? I read the info on the link and all i see is acrobat dc. I do not like that, i do not want it and I did not download the update, it must have been automatic in the security suite i am getting rid of (precisely because of this nonsense). Please can you PLEASE show me where the link it to get acrobat reader XI? or whatever, the pone before dc, which I do NOT like at all.
Second, while I have the latest updated version of OS on my iMac, my printer, Canon Prima MX870 series 2, does support duplex printing and I use it all the time for duplex printing my word documents I send to the printer, I cannot figure out how to duplex print my adobe reader PDF files or any PDF files for that matter. I have followed all instructions that I could find about how to turn it on, however none of the instructions work. I have clicked on "printer" and when my screen comes up it shows duplex printing "off" in light gray and I cannot change it to "on" and no where on my iMac screen does it show anything called "properties" which some other instructions tell me to click on.
The instructions worked in find the version of Adobe Reader I have; I found I have version 2015.010.20056, but I am not sure how this relates to the 10.3.1 that the instructions say. I thought that I had downloaded the most recent version but does the 010.20056 means I only have version 10.2 and need to down load a newer version to get duplex printing?
Sorry, I guess I have been working on this too long I meant that I have been told I need to have 10.1.3, not 10.3.1. But still nothing is working and the instructions about duplex printing do not help to turn on my duplex printing.
If you're on a Mac, About Acrobat Reader is not on the Help menu but on the app menu (the first one after the apple, with the name of the app). This should be the same for all apps, so it's easy to find once you know how.
2015.010.20056 is still pretty old (but much less old than 10.2). It came out almost 2 years ago. I suggest you check for updates, which you can do via Help > Check for Updates. This is supposed to be automatic, so it might tell you about a problem. Please let us know where you get to.
I did what you suggested, went to help and clicked on "check for up dates." It said that my Adobe Acrobat Reader is up to date. What do I now? What is wrong? You say I have an old version and it says I am up to date?
Unable to install Adobe Reader on a my computer . Installation fails with the message a newer version already installed. I had Adobe Reader 11 but apparently auto update saw there was a new version and uninstalled Adobe reader 11 and tried to installed Adobe Reader DC. Any ideas on how to get this installed
It please run the cleaning tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs, restart your computer & then try to install Adobe Reader using this link Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions.
I am still having the same problem installing the new Adobe reader DC it starts to install then come back with the message that a Newer Version is already Installed. I can install Adobe Reader 11 and it works, it is just the new one that has the problem.
I am having the same issue. I have uninstalled the older version of Adobe Reader, and tried to start from scratch to install the new DC version. I keep getting the "newer version already installed " error. I have run the "cleaners" from AdobeLabs. Also have tried to install versions 10 & 11 - also get error 1923 message when trying to install the older versions (I am logged on as an Administrator). I have also removed all cookies and temporary internet files and emptied the recycle bin. I don't know what to try next! I have also run "CC Cleaner" to remove bad registry entries. Also tried different browsers (Chrome, IE, Firefox), and tried the link suggested in the above staff reply to directly download.....nothing works....... I am running Windows 8.1 OS.. Please Help!
Please provide a screenshot of the error message. Also please provide the MSI log. You can enable installation logging on the system as per this article How to enable Windows Installer logging . Once logging is enabled try to download and install Reader DC. If you encounter failure then send us the latest installation log from user temp directory (Start->Run-> type "%temp%") - logs would start with name - MSIxxxx.log.
This is absolutely the correct solution, thank you so much! I had tried root user, downloading the adobe cleaner tool, deleting preference files in my library, and this is the thing that ended up working because they saw a version in the trash!
Paul, thank you for the great solution to go to the trash/recycle bin. I tried rebooting several times and going back onto the Adobe website to try the Download files three more times. I didn't have the actual Adobe Reader DC file in there, but I deleted the Adobe Cleanup Tool that I removed after that didn't work and the actual download .exe files that I downloaded three times. Whalah! Immediately after I emptied the 'trash', the Adobe reader file actually installed and the extension on Chrome was enabled also. Thank you for sharing your resolution. It worked like a charm. I had the same error, but did not have any Adobe products installed on my iMac. I had finished a clean install of MacOS 10.13.3. However, your findings came to mind when I saw that I had it installed on a thumb drive that had the MacOS installed (it was connected to my iMac when I tried to install reader). After unmounting it, reader installed perfectly. Thanks for your help.
We're sorry for the trouble you had with the installation of Adobe Reader, please reboot the machine once, download the Acrobat cleaner tool to remove installed Adobe Reader Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
We're sorry for the inconvenience caused, please disable the Windows defender once and try installing Adobe Reader after removing any previously installed Adobe Reader using Cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
Me too. This problem has been in the forums for at least 3 years! How is it that the installer hasn't been fixed? I have tried all the above suggestions, still insists there is a newer version installed. The only adobe product installed is flash.
Is anyone having issues with Adobe Reader installing 32bit instead of the 64bit version. After the recent update with Adobe Reader one of our applications that uses Adobe Reader creashes now. When we install Acrobat Pro DC 64 bit, the application works correctly. Can anyone point me in the right direction for the 64 bit offline installer? This has been frustrating because the users that are using reader do not need Acrobat Pro DC.
If you use the enterprise link for the offline installer you now only get the 32bit installer listed under all of the specific language options. If you chose the first option - All Languages (MUI) you then get a choice of 32bit and 64bit. However, if you try and install this 64 bit installer it gets to 15% and then crashes on any machine. This has only changed in the last few months as you previously used to get the choice under all single language download options. 2200120117 was the last version that I could find with the 32/64 bit option for English UK.
A couple of days ago, I had a balloon pop up that I needed to update Adobe. However, when it said something about not being able to update it. I can't recall what it said it exactly. I tried again. Figured it was an issue with the old version, I still had I believe one of the version 9 adobe reader.
After googling and not really finding anything that seemed easy to do (I am not tech savvy and as I use this computer for school, I'm terrified of messing it up). So, I thought...well, I'll see if I can reinstall an older version. So I went back to a version 9, still got a similar message. Both times I have checked. In both instances, the folders the message mentions are nowhere to be found.
I am at a loss of what to do. It is making research for school much more difficult as everything in my school library uses pdf and I cannot save anything anymore. I have to do all of my reading and information gathering right when I have it open in the library rather than saving it to read later.
I did the Adobe Cleanup. It didn't work at first but then I also discovered I needed a Windows Update (I had seen somebody mention a WU in a very old discussion thread and figured it couldn't hurt to try that - I probably missed the notification for it). I had trouble getting that to install. After a reboot, WU installed and I gave the Adobe install a try again. Not one problem. And I am so happy to have Adobe back up. Thank you very much! In the midst of it all, I was very much contemplating taking it to someone which probably I would have ended up losing it for a couple of days since there isn't anyone local.
@cbrewer Unfortunately the one you linked to doesn't seem to work either. We used the one @JminD posted but that seems to have stopped working in late february/early march. I've only tried it on Big Sur on Intel Macs.
I figured out why the script is no longer working. Version 2100120149 is an update only. It's not a full install. Also the file name for it is AcroRdrDCUpd2100120149_MUI.dmg so the script can't find it. So I modified the script to see what happens, it will download the the 0149 version then fail out, it is because it's an update only, so it is looking for the version to update. Thanks Adobe for breaking this. Here is a link link text to where you can see the info about the 149 version.
The script installed adobe on one of our Mac's, but the other one, it got the error "Current version does not appear to match the 10 digit format expected". The script has the above change in it. Should this also update the current version?
