I am having an issue with one of client machine where after uninstalling Avira Internet Security , i lost my internet connection . weird thing is that , i can still open one website , but not the rest.
You can also try running the Avira registry cleaner to remove any registry values that were left behind during the install process. Here is a link: http:/ Opens a new window/www.avira.com/en/download-start/product/avira-registrycleaner?x-origin=web
If your winsock isn't able to reset I would do what Sean did and try and uninstall/reinstall the software.
@Sean Donnelly - Thats the only thing left to be done. But problem is that i don't have internet on that PC and I cant find the Offline installer of Avira Internet Security . There is one on Avira's website but its again asking for internet connection.
@casey rodriguez - Tried that but even after cleaning the registry using the tool there are still entries of avira in my registry . so i manually removed them but still no internet . reinstalling Avira Internet Security would require internet connection as even the offline installer on avira's site is not running without internet.
Although one thing is weird here . Since i have uninstalled Avira from this PC . One other PC in the same network start behaving the same ,ie, no internet , and it didn't even had AVira installed on it. It a totally diff PC with diff users.
now there are total 3 PC's which are acting the same once i removed the internet security from one PC .
I think its not a problem with one PC . something went wrong in the network .
Like some filter is applied to the swicht connecting those 3 PC's or something .

Avira Antivirus Pro is what we consider its basic antivirus solution. It doesn't do much more than the free version in terms of overall protection, but it does include a firewall. This is worth the cost since a firewall helps prevent malware attacks from coming through your network or internet connections. Avira Antivirus Pro has 1-month, 1-year, and 2-year subscription options. The best deal, though, is the 1-year subscription. This starts at $26.99 for a single device, though a five-device option is available. The cost of the month-to-month option starts at $4.99, and $77.99 for 2 years.
The Windows app delivers on the basics. It's easy to use (choose a location, click Connect), performance is reasonable, we couldn't find any DNS leaks, and the kill switch correctly blocked our internet connection when we forcibly dropped the VPN.
We were much more impressed for our more recent review in 2023. Avira Prime boasts a 'new' firewall, which is indeed an actual part of the security suite. Should you choose to enable it, the 'App Rules' section contains a very clearly laid out list of internet programs, which you can choose to 'Block' or 'Allow' via individual drop down menus. We were especially impressed to see a 'Remove All' option to allow users to block all internet apps in case they're overwhelmed.
The 'Advanced Settings' for the VPN are well thought out. You can choose to automatically connect to Phantom VPN if you're connected to WiFi networks. We were pleased to see there's also a built-in VPN kill switch, which you can activate to block all internet activity if the connection drops for any reason. The VPN connection can also be programmed to launch when the system starts.
With an overall protection rate of 99.96%, Avira is the barest whisker behind some of the biggest names in internet security. In practice, it should keep you just as safe as the likes of McAfee or Norton.
By default, the real-time virus protection scans any new file saved to your computer as well as files downloaded from the internet. Scanning USB drives is listed as another option, but that requires one of the paid Avira products. Any malware discovered is automatically quarantined for you to inspect it. Clicking the name of a piece of malware takes you to the Avira website with a helpful analysis of the file.
When you launch Avira Home Guard, it scans your local network and reports all found devices. With more and more appliances and devices gaining internet connectivity, the list is probably longer than you'd expect. Home Guard also flags possible security problems, but its reports aren't as useful as what you get from the similar Bitdefender Home Scanner.

There are also extensions offered when you use Avira to improve your browser safety and give you protection even online. These focus primarily on privacy, blocking ads and trackers, acting as their own internet security suite on top of the protection already offered from the desktop application.
To put Avira through the gauntlet, we also used the tools of WICAR, which throws a series of browser exploits at an antivirus to test the strength of its internet security suite. Out of the 13 exploits, Avira blocked nine of them and allowed four through. For an example of an antivirus that can catch all 13, check out our Webroot SecureAnywhere Review.
Please note, there is no stand-alone trial of Avira Internet Security Suite. The download link gets you Avira Antivirus Pro. To add other features sign in at my.avira.com, find your device (if you've more than one), scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "Add" for whatever extras you need ("Browser Safety", "System Speedup", "Identity Safeguard" and "Dropbox" - again).
