Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" tells the story of a hero who traveled to the future and saw that mankind had been wiped out by some great catastrophe, then was "turned to steel" when he tried to travel into the past to warn everyone and was consequently ignored due to his inability to communicate. Eventually, he grew so angry over this that he began to attack and destroy everyone, causing the very catastrophe he'd tried to prevent.
