MacBookAir with M1. I can print to my HP225dw but I cannot scan. Tried to download drivers from HP.com and when I get to the "Add and Verify" screen and click on :Switch to HP Driver" a box pops up saying "Unable to communicate with device". Assuming this is because the HP software was set up to work with Intel chip, not the M1. Can anyone tell me how to proceed? Not having scanning capabilities is an issue. Thanks much,
Go ahead and make sure that you've followed all the steps to Set up a scanner to use with Mac. If, after following all those steps you still have issues, it might be best to reach out to HP Customer Support.
You need to install the HP driver to use this scanner on Windows and macOS.If there isn't an HP driver at
www.hp.com for your operating system, then unfortunately VueScan won't work with this scanner. VueScan uses a plugin library that's installed with the HP drivers to talk to this scanner, and doesn't work with this scanner without this plugin library.
This scanner is supported on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and later if you first install the HP drivers for Mac OS X 10.6 or later (these will work on newer versions of Mac OS X). Also, run the x32 (not x64) version of VueScan with these drivers.
