Let's be real: not a single one of us is life simming without some form of Sims 4 cheats up our sleeves. Whether you're working on your next cottage build, or setting up for one of the popular Sims 4 challenges, or just moving that new family into the mansion they can't afford, cheats are here to solve your problems.
We've got a huge cheat sheet for you full of all the live mode shortcuts you need, build mode unlockables, and that one cheat for unlocking career entitlements that I guarantee none of us have memorized.
Every one of Sims 4's expansions and packs also has its own set of cheats. Usually, those cheats are tied to the jobs, deaths, and traits that are unique to that expansion or pack. We've organized the page to make it easy to find tables for all the skills, careers, and traits you might need to max out your Sim's level in. With a handy Ctrl+F, you can search the page for the name of the expansion or pack you're wanting to find cheats for.
For certain cheats, including thost marked as "shift click," you'll first need to use the "testingCheats true" cheat. With testing cheats on, you can unlock some new Shift-Click menu options on Sims, objects, or the ground.
With testingCheats active, you'll be able to move Sims between families, fill up their needs and happiness bars, dirty or clean up objects, and teleport Sims anywhere you like, among a few others detailed below.
Spending all your money on groceries and bills is too much like real life. Why make your Sims start at the bottom when it's way more fun to start at the top? Enter any of these Sims 4 money cheat keywords into the cheat console to instantly gain stacks of cash.
Several different Sims 4 expansions have added different types of occult Sims. So long as you have the corresponding DLC, here's how to turn your Sims into your favorite kind of weirdo using the traits.equip_trait cheat:
One of the first things you might be compelled to do with Eco Lifestyle cheats is change your neighborhood's Eco Footprint. If you just can't stand starting out with an industrial neighborhood, use eco_footprint.set_eco_footprint_state with one of these numbers:
Get your teen Sims through (or kicked out of) school with these cheats for graduating and getting expelled. These are all handled through the trait system, so you'll use the cheat traits.equip_trait [trait] to help them graduate, get expelled, or drop out:
Like other traits, you can use traits.remove_trait to get rid of each as well. You can find more Highschool Years cheats for careers, skills, and personality traits in the tables below.
If you're finding that your Sims' difficulty in meeting new people is a little too relatable, the cheat console code relationship.introduce_sim_to_all_others will instantly introduce your Sim to all their neighbors.
traits.equip_trait Ghost_OldAge [Pet ID] will turn your pet into a ghost if you are either an absolute monster or (spoiler alert) attempting an elaborate Sim version of John Wick. To get your pet's ID (you monster), use sims.get_sim_id_by_name [PetFirstName] [PetLastName]
Use stats.set_skill_level [skill code] [#] to set your Sim's skill to any level you want. Substitute in the skill code and the skill level you want, which should look something like: "stats.set_skill_level Major_Writing 10"
And for all you horse enthusiasts, before you can modify your ride's skills, you'll need to find their HorseID with sims.get_sim_id_by_name [HorseFirstName] [HorseLastName]. Once you have your HorseID, make sure you append it at the end of each skill command, so it should look like this: stats.set_skill_level Horse_Temperament 10 [HorseID#].
careers.promote [career] and careers.remove [career] work in the same way to get a promotion or remove your Sim's job. You can also use careers.retire [career] to quit your job and collect a weekly pension.
You can pick certain traits for your Sims during the Create-A-Sim process that control some of their preferences, habits, and how they react to other Sims. The quickest way to add and remove standard traits is to use the cas.fulleditmode cheat and then the Shift+Click cheat for "Modify in CAS" to change your Sim's traits.
However, there's a long list of other traits that you can only get in other ways such as buying them with Aspiration Points or when a Sim grows into a new age group. Here are all the handy codes for the traits you won't find tucked away in the Create-A-Sim menu.
There are three different modes in The Sims 4: Create-a-Sim mode, Build mode, and Live mode. You can enter Build/Buy cheats in both Live mode or Build mode, but you must be in Build mode to use them. The Build mode cheats include codes for moving objects, expanding the Build/Buy catalog, and more.

This is a huge, curated list of cheats in The Sims 4 that allow you to get money, prevent death, and adjust your Skill and Career levels. We've also listed cheats for Get to Work and other Expansion Packs. Look to the bottom of the list for expansion-specific information. We're also updated with more official cheats from EA, including ignore career unlocks and MoveObjects!
To use cheats, press Control + Shift + C to toggle the console on and off. You do this on Xbox or Playstation by pressing all four shoulder buttons simultaneously. Press enter after typing the cheat. For many cheats, you must also use testingcheats on or they will not work. Most cheats are used in live mode (F2).
Pregnancy and Multiple Birth Cheats
You can use relationship cheats to Try for Baby quickly, and follow up with a cheat once the Sim is pregnant in order to force the Sim into labor. You can also cheat to get twins, triplets, quadruplets, or more! Cheats to Make a Sim a Ghost
Head to the Ghosts guide for Cheats to turn a Sim into a ghost of any kind, based on the death type. You can also skip Ambrosia or the Book of Life and make a Sim who's died back into a normal Sim by removing this ghost trait once they've been added back to your family.
To enable TestingCheats, open the console with Left CTRL+Shift+C (press/hold with one fluid motion in that order) or by pressing all four shoulder buttons on console. Once the white box appears, type testingcheats on. To disable testing cheat, type testingcheats off. The cheat console will say, "Cheats Enabled" or "Disabled". If it does not, you can try other options: testingcheats 1, testingcheats true, and testingcheats yes all work to enable the Sims 4's testingcheats. Once enabled, they should stay on for your save. Here are the things you can do with testingcheats - note that this command is also necessary for the extra cheats further down.
Shift-Click the Mailbox to access the cheat to stop a Sim's need decay for your current household or the entire neighborhood (effectively make everyone happy). Disable Need Decay will make needs stop falling and re-enabling them is as simple as selecting "Enable Need Decay". Make Happy will then fill needs to the maximum. You can do this on an individual Sim level by Shift-Clicking Your Sims. This will let you select to make only that Sim's needs static or make them happy by filling all needs. You are also able to completely redesign a Sim by shift-clicking them and selecting Modify in CAS. This takes you to Create-A-Sim where you can make the Sim look however you want, but not change their gender or traits.
Change Traits and Appearance of Sims
To fully edit a Sim in Create-a-Sim, type cas.fulleditmode with Testing Cheats On. This will let you change the gender, traits, everything, and is much more powerful than the scaled down version you get without typing this cheat. Thanks Pokeh321 for giving me this information.
Shift-Clicking NPC Sims will allow you to add them to your household. You will find it's possible to enable/disable need decay and make them happy if you so choose - good if your Sim's date has to leave due to being tired! You can also Edit them in CAS if you like.
Shift-Clicking Objects, for those that can get dirty, allows you to either make them dirty or clean - all objects can be reset, as well. Use this if an object is bugged, but it's more likely to be useful when a Sim freezes.
Customize the size of Items - Enlarge or Shrink - For decorative purposes, this one is a winner. It allows you to alter items while retaining their other properties (so a masterpiece painting shrunk down will consume less wall space). This cheat only works while in build mode, as changing object size requires you to be able to fit it somewhere. Take the object you want to change size of and Press Shift + ] (right bracket) to make it bigger. You can shrink objects down to one tile by using Shift + [ or using Control + Z to undo your changes. Press this too much and it will grow enormously. The controls for this are a little wonky, so experimentation is recommended. I press control + ] then move the object to see the change. This is necessary. Thankfully, if you go overboard like in the picture above you can always undo it and shrink the object down to a size you like.
