Lessfs with a raw device

Hello,

I wanted to know whether Lessfs supports using a raw device as it's data device when configured with BerkeleyDB? Can we use a raw device for the metadata as well?

I read somewhere that the BLOCKDATA_PATH can point to a raw device, but it is not recommended. Why is it not recommended?

I apologize but I couldn't find too much information regarding all this.
