This issue has been going on for quite a while now, through multiple OS updates. Currently running ReadyNAS OS 6.7.4.

I can't install or uninstall any new apps via the admin console. It seems to download them just fine, but when it's working through the actual installation process it tells me it's unable to install or uninstall the package.

Mainly, I'm trying to update Plex. Even downloading from the Plex website and uploading via admin console, it says it can't install the package. I've tried restarting, I've tried waiting for the next OS upgrade... nothing.

We recommended that you set close_inactive to a value that is larger than theleast frequent updates to your log files. For example, if your log files getupdated every few seconds, you can safely set close_inactive to 1m. If thereare log files with very different update rates, you can use multipleconfigurations with different values.

You can filter the output of the journal by specific fields. The syntax of a field to be matched is FIELD_NAME=MATCHED_VALUE, such as _SYSTEMD_UNIT=httpd.service. You can specify multiple matches in a single query to filter the output messages even more. See man 7 systemd.journal-fields for a list of default fields.

There will be a disruption of the data collection. If the Splunk indexer is restarted that data is sent to, the system will lose syslog data. There are several reasons to restart the indexer: applying updates, rolling restarts for index clustering. Restarting Splunk happens more often than it would on a syslog service on a dedicated server. There is a speed advantage to restarting the syslog service, it is faster than restarting Splunk. There is also a loss to the ability to load balance incoming data across multiple indexers (e.g. Index Clustering).
