There is also the concept that sugar makes you sleepy, drowsy, releases serotonin.  Very prevalent in we searches.

It that a misconception?

I bought into that.  I use to give my kids sugary (and non-caffeinated) drinks when we drove a 12 hour trip from NC to FL to grandmas.  My theory was that the would be more placid during the trip. Otherwise, I tended to avoid giving them sugary drinks.  (We always avoided giving them caffeinated drinks in their pre-teen years, at least.)
