Theres no need to know the address. netflix.com redirects to Australian one anyway, you cant accidentally go the US one by typing in the wrong address. There is something going on with your DNS system.
DNS settings in your router/modem
DNS settings in your PC network adapter properties
Plugins to your browser that intercept this stuff on purpose
Any crappy firewall/security software intercepting certain traffic
Flush your DNS cache if you had been mucking around with DNS settings in the past
I have been using the US Netflix for a whole year, yes the content is bigger over there but have anyone else who use Netlfix Australia noticed the huge jump in picture quality. I think having the server locally has improved the image quality.
I was using a "free" DNS, but it started to throw up shit about signing in.
So I bought a $9.23 3 month Getflix subscription, turns out, the "free" DNS wasn't even directing me to the US site.
I just got to say, WOW, the US Netflix is awesome..
I'm getting error UI3001-1000 on most movies when using a SmartDNS pointing to US on my Aussie account. Anyone know what this means? The support site says to clear cookies, well I tried that and it still does it.
I would make sure you do it in this order.. disconnect the internet from the xbone, hard reset the console and don't turn it on. Disconnect modem for a minute or so, plug the modem back in and wait for it to connect then connect the internet to the xbone and restart the console.
Basically Netflix and quota free ISPs do not use DNS to ascertain quota free content but your actual IP address. For this to occur the region setting must be set to off so that Netflix can see your ISP IP address.
No luck at all. I'm in the preview program which is the only thing I could put it down to but it shouldn't be that. But yeah just loads straight into black screen, Xbox becomes unusable and I have to hard reset to just get the Xbox back. Little annoying tbh.

With a 2hr average network utilization of 3.3Gbps and say 1Gbph per user (midway between SD and HD)... that's around 12000 people playing with it full time for a few hours last night (+ all the fiddlers who couldn't get it working like me).
People say the selection isn't big, well it's only going to increase not decrease. And look at it this way. If someone says you have to see this movie but it's not on Netflix and they're charging like $20 to buy the movie... that's more than 2 entire months worth of Netflix so what's the incentive to buy the 2 hour movie when you could allocate that money to a full 2 months of Netflix and it may even end up on Netflix in time anyway so you won't miss out you just watch it when it comes.
Does the Chromecast app on PC for netflix have the option for Post-Play (auto next episode), i know it came to chromecast netflix app for Android and iOS last September and that PC was 'coming soon' but i can't find anything since, Nor does it seem to work for me anyway. Is it out? Or does anyone have it working or something?
If you meant the "post play" thing where the end credits get postage-stamped and spoilers for the next episode flash onto the screen before it automatically plays, then I'm not sure, as I've done everything in my power to escape it, finally finding refuge in the Apple TV, which leaves the damn credits alone ;)
I'm not sure about specs or whether its true HD or whatever.. But i set up netflix on my parents Apple TV today.. For them its great they are pretty computer illiterate but can find their way around Foxtel.. So for them its perfect. I had no problem setting it up for them.
Nice thanks mate.. I basically set it up, showed them how the remote works and then left. Looked pretty decent quality but i personally cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080 HD. I was impressed with the set up tho. Seemed user friendly. I personally run mine though my PC and onto a 32 inch lcd tv that i use as a monitor and i use the Hola app for international catalogs.
I had a quick chat with Netflix support (who answered the live chat request literally instantly!) and they said that to their knowledge the removal of the first two episodes of The Returned was NOT intentional. They filed a report for the content team to take a look at it.
The picture and sound quality is excellent. I signed up to the HD option with two screens. There was no lag at all. It was like watching a DVD. This is with a fairly dodgy ADSL2+ connection where we normally experience a lot of mid evening slow downs.
However I'm not really impressed by the range of shows. We did have the US Netflix last year for a while and it seemed to have many more different shows. From what I understand Netflix Australia will add to the range of shows over the coming months.
I have been thinking about doing the same thing, I'd rather have the Getflix DNS set on the device itself rather than in my router. Being Apple illiterate, how do you go about adding the likes of Netflix, Hulu Plus and Livestream to the device?
hmm so that requires a itunes account so I think I will pass. Livestream is the service that shows the NRL overseas and you can access it via the web, apple, android and Roku devices with a Smart DNS service.
That's a little harsh there are plenty of people in retirement or close to it that haven't grown up with computers that struggle with understanding the online streaming services and not everyone has a decent net connection.
I agree demand is limited but I can't see this demand decreasing since Fox Sports will always hold sporting rights monopoly. If Foxtel and Discovery purchase Ten Network Foxtel buying power will only increase.
There are more computer illiterate people than literate, so many people wouldn't know what Netflix is or how it works but they are familiar with Foxtel. After all there is a reason why Comcast is still going strong in US despite strong competition from Netflix.
Last night, I reactivated my USA netflix account on PC through Getflix DNS setting on Router. It worked fine on PC. but As soon as I started on Roku, it showed me Australian Netflix login screen. After I logged in with my USA account, I could see all American content on the main screen. But As soon as I clicked to play any video (any TV, movies, kids anything) the loading stopped at 25% and then nothing. I couldnt play any video on Roku. anyone can tell me why it's happening? Why Netflix login screen is showing Aus version on Roku and Why all the videos stop loading at 25%?
So it should. Its Pay and Pay and Pay on top TV. As soon as they went away from the commercial free subscription model and became the commercial full monopoly, they were always on the downward slope. I hope the streaming services smash Foxtel and the free to air giants and then maybe 7 & 9 can then get their act together and treat viewers with respect. Now if HULU Plus can make its way here as well:)
That's what it's all about. Competition. Can only be better for us. I will be keeping foxtel simply for sports. I wish I could just pay for sports and HD for $35 a month and that's it, but no, I need basic on top of that as a minimum for another $25.
Yep, I called up to cancel and we are currently on one of the old plans, 2 boxes, HD, sports, everything but movies basically and it should cost $134 a month, we were getting it for $77. So it's a massive saving but they only do it for 3 months then it goes back to the higher pricing.
I keep calling up and telling them I am not after such a great deal I just want to be on the new packages with only like a $10 discount and I will sign up for 2 years cos I'm sick of bartering with them but they refuse. Their new strategy is to obviously offer massive discounts and wait for people to forget and get a couple of months of full charges.
