Aftersearching through blogs it states there are no drivers. Its the chipset that I need to look for. However I still see others saying it doesnt fucnction on Ubuntu well and to buy another wifi adaptor.

Why is Netgear not capitalizing on the Linux revolution and why has canocial not bothered to do a joint venture to generate more sales and support of Netgear products. Seems like whole lot of money being flushed down the drain.

I am trying to use a USB adapter to connect a desktop that can't be connected to wifi because of the area it is located. I have one desktop connected via Ethernet cable. How do I get the standalone driver installed on the other desktop if I can't get connected to the internet? Can I just move and connect the desktop to where my wifi is connected, install the windows standalone driver then move it back to and insert the adapter?

Hello, I own two WNA3100: wifi adapters, one for a Windows 10 machine, the other for a Windows 7 machine. The one I'm using for Windows 7 works fine and has no issues whatsoever and is quite a few meters away from my Netgear router, the R6300.

The new Windows 10 machine is much closer to the router so range is not a problem but the wifi adapter keeps disconnecting almost every minute. I have the latest drivers which should support Windows 10 but it looks like the drivers are highly unstable for some reason. After I disconnect and reconnect the adapter to the PC the adapter works fine for another a minute then the connection again shows "limited" or it just disconnects itself completely. I've tried several USB ports on the back and the front of my PC, most of the them are regular USB 2.0 ports and all have the same problem.

I then go to the Windows device manager, find the Netgear WNA3100 and try to manually update the driver by pointing it to the folder containing the standalone driver setup file but it says the most recent version is already installed.

I am having the same issue as of yesterday. I have two Windows 10 Machines with the Netgear 3100, both went down. It shows the wifi networks available but will not let me connect. I tried everything listed including deleting and updating the driver only. When I attach it to my Windows 8 machine it connects fine. Would love any help anyone has. Thanks!

Add me to the list. The network adapter shuts itself off and disconnects from the network after a few minutes using the supposed Windows 10 drivers. Netgear needs to correct this stat...you'd think after 6 months they would have come up with something. The problem isn't Firewall, it isn't Antivirus, it isn't sleep settings...IT'S POORLY MADE DRIVERS.

I have to use my Nexus tablet to tether to my computer for Wifi since my Netgear adapter is so unreliable. This adapter goes back to the store tomorrow, and my Netgear routers/switches at home and work are being replaced by a brand that can keep up with the times.

I've just starting getting this problem with the WNDA3100v2 right after Win 10 had resarted after an automatic update. Reset the router, no luck. Downloaded the Win 10 driver (no genie), uninstalled the current driver (same version as the downloaded one), rebooted the system and installed the downloaded one. Installation stalled with a pop up error x103 titled SupTools so no functioning wifi.

This is incredibly frustrating since I'll initiate a download, walk away, then come back an hour later to discover that the Netgear driver crashed a few minutes after I walked away and my download didn't complete. I shouldn't have to constant hover over my computer to ensure that the Wi-fi's still working.

Installed the Genie version and didn't get the x103 error but still have the drop out problem. I've also tried the A6100 adapter and get exactly the same dropout problem so it's not just this adapter. A bit frustrating to say the least!

JamesGL seems to have moved on, but to answer his previous questions: I have two Windows 10 PCs, and both are experiencing this issue. I have done multiple driver uninstall / reinstalls and updates, both through Windows' Update Driver wizard and manually using the drivers downloaded from Netgear's site.

Previously I'd been able to revive it by disabling it then reenabling it through Windows, but that's no longer working -- it can no longer connect to my Wi-Fi network even after being disabled / enabled, and restarting Windows.

Meanwhile, the other (non-Netgear) adapter I have is working fine. I'm going to throw my Netgear adapter in the trash, which is really frustrating since I bought it brand new and paid good money for it.

we put the mesh system few days ago, all the devices are connecting normally except my Dell Inspiron laptop (not new), finds ALL the other signals from all around except the netgear...i called netgear...had me on the phone waiting and sending me from one end to the other for 1.30hours...at the end the line was cut and they didnt call back and i had enough of it...

If so, lookup what actual wireless card is in it (the dell). Get the driver for it directly from that manufacturer's site. If its an intel card, go to the intel site and update it. Many wireless card drivers that people get from dell/windows are outdated and there was issues with cards recognizing wireless AX.

I was told at Bestbuy that this WNDA3100v3 wireless adapter would work for both PC and my Macbook Pro. It did okay on the PC but we no longer need to use it there to boost the wifi signal. I tried installing it on the Macbook and found out it wouldn't work at all. I mean, what's the deal? Is it no logical to have drivers available for both platforms? If anyone has a solution please let me know.

Hi!

Would this link work for mentioned adapter? (A6210)? I have been experiencing similar problems concerning OS software that it didn't link up together or Macbook doesn't even recognize the adapter.

Please and thank you!

Hi there James,

I looked it up and indeed, this one isn't competible for OS software. Can you reccomend one from Netgear that could work on both platforms?

Regards,

CVR

I have windows 7 sp1 and have attempted to install the device drivers for the AC1900 wifi adapter...they install but they fail to install due to the digital signature NOT being recognized, hence the OS ignores them and i cannot use the new adapter.

well, after about a dozen reboots i finally got to the advanced screen, disabled driver signature enforcement and attempted to install the software which continued to fail, this time because under safe mode the OS did not recognize the installation program and hence failed to install the drivers.

and i confirmed that it was turned off using bcdedit.... then reinstalled the software and i continue to get the digital signature not verified notice in device manager when i click on the item.

I just installed ubuntu on both my laptop and gaming desktop. my laptop is working fine but I have a netgear wifi card on my pc. I have tried following some tutorials online but have come up empty. there is a github page -A6210 where someone has made a driver. I tried copying and pasting the commands in terminal but I just get command not found. How would I go about installing this driver? is there anything I need to type into the terminal berfore copying and pasting?

My HP Envy x360 will not connect to the Netgear wifi extender, and never had an issue connecting before. Got a new modem/router combo from the cable company and a new password. All the other laptops, tablets, phones in the house connect to the extender/new router using the new credentials. My HP recognizes the extender, but will not connect - it will only connect to the router itself and it is a weak connection (hence, the extender). I have gone to device manager, selected "network adapters" and looked for an updated wireless driver and I am informed that that my wireless adapter is up to date.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 about 2 days ago and as soon as I upgraded, my WNDA4100 Network Adapter quit working. The LED's no longer light up when it is plugged in. I went to netgear's website and downloaded the latest firmware which says it is compatible with Windows 10. After I install the firmware, I go to device manager and click properties on the adapter and I get this error message:

I have tried running the firmware install in windows 8 compatibility mode as that was suggested by other people, but it never finishes installation. It doesn't lock up, but nothing ever happens. Netgear is not willing to help me one bit cause it's older than 90 days, blah blah. If anyone else has the same trouble, I'd greatly appreciate some help. I am currently using a really long ethernet cord that stretches my living room. I really don't want to have to buy another adapter and with windows 10 being so new, idk what new adapter would even work.

Hope this helps!"

With windows 10, this worked for me, only there's a few differences in the steps that I'll outline here,

For the list of drivers, you should see a few drivers listed for your netgear adapter, next to them will be little certificates. You should see at least one that says "NETGEAR WNDA4100 N900 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter (NETGEAR Inc.)" Select this driver (I had 2 listed, so I used the topmost listed) and finish the install process. This should reset your adapter driver and allow you to connect to either of your networks using the genie software.

I hope this helps, as I am glad it fixed mine.

I'm having the exact same issue! Attempted to upgrade to the Windows 10 driver and now the genie program will not launch and the drivers do not install correctly. I've tried running the program in every combination of admin, compatibility, restarting, updating, removing, reinstalling, and even rolling back to previous versions of the drivers. It's utterly ridiculous that updating the driver completely killed my computer's wireless connectivity.
