WheneverI click the Sims 4 icon it takes me to Origin, but when I click the Plau button on Origin it thinks about it for a moment and then does nothing. The Sims 4 will not load, it works fine with my other game but not with Sims 4. I tried restarting my computer but had the same issue, Origin will not load the Sims 4, although it did so earlier in the day.

Thanks for the advice, I just tried repairing the game but it didn't seem to make a difference. I've tried opening it from my desktop and applications folder and it opens Origin but doesn't launch the Sims 4. Whenever I click the icon it closes then reopens Origin but not the game.

It hasn't deleted your saves or any user data. The game has simply recreated the Sims 4 folder. Your saves etc. are in the folder you dragged to your desktop. It's the first troubleshooting step you should try if your game won't open. If your game loads after moving the folder it means the issue is somewhere in your user data - corrupt save/incompatible CC or Mods etc.

me too i also tried updating my game because it needed to be updated then it worked. the next day i went to go on the sims then it did that. i tried updating it again and repairing it but it does not work :/

On my main avatar it says that i'm banned from all the regions.. so I figured that I was somehow estate banned. I swapped to an alt avatar and it said "I do not have access to this region". I was kind of puzzled. I tried logging in with luminya with my phone on 4g, and it still said that I did not have access to any of those regions.

If you're banned from all the regions on your main avatar, and you don't have a clue as to why, you can always drop a notecard to the sim owner/manager and ask them if they can shed any light on the situation. You might not get a reply (or you might). In Second Life, people don't need to have an excuse to ban a person, and luckily there are plenty of other places to go.

Swapping to an alt avatar and getting a message that you don't have access to a particular region suggests that it is only open to group members, or even to a small private selection of specifically-named people.

Hello Marigold,, the sims aren't open to just group members. They are open to everyone, they are rental sims. Even the main office I can't gain access to on any of my alts. My alt isn't new neither, its years old with payment info on file. I doubt I am estate banned, but I did contact the owner. Unless if there is a way to completely IP or mac ban me, then I don't understand.

Yes, I already contacted the estate owner, she won't be online until tomrorow. It just puzzles me that I can't gain access to any of the estate sims (I tried 7 of their sims or so that I knew), I tried it on my phone over 4g, on my computer, on my main, and on alts. None of them worked. I was able to gain access to only some of luxory estate sims (like 2-3 out of 7). I am still really puzzled, because if I was IP or mac banned, then i'd be able to get there on my phone. if I was estate banned on my main avatar, then i'd be able to get there on my alt.

Not sure, got some more weirdness tho. I was able to gain access to the Luxory North, and Luxory West sim just a few minutes ago. I relogged back in and now its saying I don't have access to those destinations.. but I was there just a minute ago. There is also plenty of people there.

I don't know if this has changed since (I havnt tested for a while), but a short while before christmas there was a change made that meant that if one of your avatars was added to an estate ban list, then your alts would also not be able to access that estate.

Your actual banned avatar who's name was on the estate ban list would receive the standard "You are banned from this region" message when trying to access regions on that estate, whereas your alts would receive a "You do not have access to this region" message (as far as I can remember - the message didnt explicitly say you were banned for the alts anyway).

The land owners may be using ban lists provided by third parties. There are groups that try to track avatars by IP addtesses and whatever other magic they think works. Thier basic idea is to collect avatar names that have used the same IP address. Once they have the name, either the IP address or name will effectively block the avatar.

Heck, there's all sorts of ways you could end up with false positives. email contact on the same domain and NAT sharing a visible IPv4 address. We went through all this duing the Redzone affair, and I don't think alt-detection is any less a snake-oil cure than it was then/

I have an S21 ultra dual sim. I was traveling internationally and had the sim 1 slot turned off in the sim card manager so I didn't incur roaming charges. When I landed home I opened the sim card manager and turned off the sim 2. Usually I would turn one on before turning the other off, but I was so tired I turned sim 1 off, then the phone crashed - so I effectively have both sims turned off and get no mobile signal at all

I tried to reload the sim card manager but when I tap it, it either does nothing, tries to enter the sim card manager and then exists before it can load anything, or gives me an error message related to call settings. The only way for me to load the sim card manager is to take both sim cards out. Otherwise it won't load it it gives an error and as soon as I put the sim cards back in, one or both, it wont allow me to access the sim card manager - it just doesnt load.

Hi, I have the exact issue for my s21 where I accidentally turned off both sims and the sim card manager crashes after. Unable to load sim card manager and it shows the 'call settings error message'. I have tried all the methods above as well but yeah still didn't work.

Not sure if it was just the clearing of call setting data and cache that got it to work or if it was a combination of all the rest of the steps as well e.g. reset network connections, update phone software, boot into safe mode or resetting of app preferences etc. Anyway, mine worked and I didn't have to resort to a factory reset.

But I found that sim manager begin crashing after I turning off 1st sim and data transfer swithed to this 1st sim. The application warns that data will be switch to 2nd sim and when you confirm start crashing. Until reboot.

How can I teach undergraduate chemistry students to build pictures in their minds, and consider what might happen if something changes about that system? By giving them an example system that they can watch and manipulate. And how can I get my 600 students to explore such systems with guidance from an expert and discuss their findings? Ask them to bring their laptops to class!

So how can I teach undergraduate chemistry students to build these pictures in their minds, and consider what might happen if something changes about that system? By giving them an example system that they can watch and manipulate. And how can I get my 600 students to explore such systems with guidance from an expert and discuss their findings? Ask them to bring their laptops to class!

During two weeks of the Spring 2013 semester I invited students in my very large lectures (200 and 400 students, respectively) to bring their laptops to class so that we could work with simulations from the PhET group together in class. The planning for these lectures had two main components -- getting students prepared, and having the lecture prepared.

Preparing the students was easy -- they just needed to download the simulations and bring their laptops. We worked with three main simulations on student computers during the lectures: Models of the Hydrogen Atom (two lectures during the third week of the course), Molecule Shapes, and Molecule Polarity (one lecture each during the eighth week of the course). Students were instructed to download the simulations ahead of time and test them out on their computer, with reminders in the previous lecture and by email.

Preparing the lectures was more challenging. My co-instructor the course, a PhET simulation expert, and I wanted students to use the sims in several different ways, including exploration, answering open questions, making and testing predictions, and as a resource to check their answers to other questions. So we planned our lectures to allow all of these practices.

My co-instructor has done research about the level of student exploration of sim features and the level of guided direction. We wanted to set aside a few minutes for students to do some broad exploration of each sim, so we prepared a few broad questions in one slide and asked students to come up with some answers. After a few minutes we regrouped for whole-class discussion and filled in the answers on the tablet PC.

However, I surveyed my students after each of these sims-in-class weeks to see what they liked and disliked about using the sims in class, to what degree they thought using the sims in class improved their learning, and for their open feedback on this topic. I also asked exam questions based on the simulation topics (sometimes using screenshots from the actual sims) to gauge their comprehension. Finally, I was able to observe students during the class sessions and see their level of engagement with the activity, including discussion with their peers about open-ended and clicker questions that I used during each session. Engagement may not be the same as learning during these sessions, but I suspect that they are often related.

Finally, there was some positive student feedback about using the sims in class. Many students noted that it really helped them to visualize some of the topics that are hard to draw on paper (the energy levels for the electronic structure of the hydrogen atom, the three-dimensional shapes of molecules); however, many requested more guidance and clarity during the class session to make the simulation use more productive.

We also faced technical challenges to get the sims running on student laptops during class. We instructed students to download and run the sim on their laptop before coming to class, but only a few students did so. So when we asked students to start up the sims during class, many needed to download the sim and update relevant software. This caused two problems. First, in the larger lecture, we saturated the wireless network, and second, it wasted class time when I wanted students to be working with the sims. The network issues were an easy fix after I told OIT about the problem. Getting students to prepare for class is a little more challenging. I think the key might be to give an pre-assignment worth a few points that requires students to explore the sims and therefore download and make them run on their computers.
