Foranyone interested AmpliTube iap for vocalive contains only the 5 'vocal' effects from Vocalive but not the other included effects like reverb, delay, parametric eq, compressor, chorus, phazer and envelope filter which are available when you purchase the standalone version of Vocalive.
@Sbee. Sorry for the late response. I also have the stand alone version. Like @mister_rz I use Voice Rack and Singaling as well. They are very good and have many presets to choose from. If you get a chance to grab one of those on sale I definitely would.
Comes down to a matter of personal preference for sure.
Affordability makes it real easy to start collecting apps with the hope that it's going to make my voice sound better, but of course we know how that story ends.
I like Singaling for that almost whispered vocal and I crank the the input/output way up with relatively low noise. I also keep coming back to the combination of the doubler, compression and reverb(backed off to about 3 o'clock ) in VocaLive. Again, preference. Having choices is lots of fun though. Hope this helps.
When I play live/gig, I'll have my electric guitar plugged into my ipad via my iriffport, I'd like to use vocalive as well, for my vocals. What are my options for doing this? have vocalive on my ipod touch, and plug in a mic somehow to my ipod? Is it possible to plug in a mic to an ipod?
Is it possible to use vocalive and JamUp pro at the same time on an ipad? Not needing both on screen at the same time, but using vocalive to affect my vocals, and JamUp for my guitar? I'm thinking not, but thought I would ask.
You'd need a multi-channel interface at the least, and probably the MiMix app to boot to co-jointly run both apps on one device. Not sure about interface options for audio on the iPod touch, it's been on Apple's slow phase-out train for a while now, sadly.
Huh, I've never heard of MiMix. What a cool little app. So, would MiMix help me out on my ipad air? Be able to run vocalive and JamUp? Multi-channel interface, I have the scarlet 2i4. But I'm pretty sure that's studio use only. That wouldn't help me playing live correct?
If you have a 2 (or more) input channel audio interface hooked up to your iPad, you can easily route a mic through one app, and a guitar through a different app. Just use the multi-routing IAP in Audiobus

The 2i4 will make a killer live interface if you ask me. Just set it on the stage instead of your studio desk And the 2i4 needs to go into your iPad thru the CCK and a powered USB hub.
The only issue with mixing on the ipad is that the sound man won't be able to change the balance between the guitar and the voice while you're playing. I guess they can still tell you to do that in between songs.
I am a live sound engineer and what you are trying to do will work, but would drive me nuts trying to get you in to the board. If you are playing live then you should invest in some direct boxes so you can plug into the snake with mic cables. Your sound will be awesome and clean. Are you bringing any stage amps or monitors for your own use? We are interested in how it goes for you so please report back with any hindsight or observations too.
@eustressor I believe @Martygras is referring more to the unbalanced outs of the 2i4 than MiMix. If you're right next to a mixer with unbalanced ins, you might be ok - but if you're connecting in to a house snake, you'll want to add the direct box(es) to the path to convert to balanced outs. MiMix can still be used to submix on stage.
With that being said, never a bad idea to look for an ios interface with balanced outs if you intend to use live. There are plenty out there that should keep you from purchasing/borrowing additional direct boxes.
Actually, with a 4 out interface like the 2i4 and MiMix's multi output routing (latest update), he can absolutely send guitar and vox to separate outs. I haven't tried this yet with MiMix, but I understand it should work.

I think playing live with iPads and phones is a steep learning curve. Lots of potential pitfalls to overcome. Ground hum may be the next problem you encounter and there are several ways to deal with it depending on what is causing it. Turn off any wifi or cell operations or you may get a call in mid performance. More ideas as I think of them.

2i4 has two outputs for the Main pair, one pair RCA and one pair Balanced TRS. MiMix is my preferred way of getting a private noodle mix on headphones since it can direct output to either or both output pairs 1&2 or 3&4. HP jack has a switch to select which you listen to. Or route the 3&4 RCA pair to your monitor. MiMix also has Midi control. I think I can get an Audiobus config that can give the house the main TRS outputs and an independent local monitor mix, with each of the two inputs running through a different effects chain. Give me a few ...
OK. I have a recipe. This gives a fixed pair of balanced mono feeds to house for the vocal and guitar, with stomp etc effect provided inside the iPad, and a separate stereo monitor mix for the performer, if those are the only noise sources. If there are more, of course, the two balanced feeds becoe a stereo mix. But the house guy can control that with a HUI over MIDI controller if desired.
MIDI In/Out can optionally be connected to a HUI controller at the house console (so house engineer has control over what comes down the tubes:). Assuming close enough for MIDI (50') or MIDI cable extension is available (optical? WiFi?))
I spent about 2 hours fiddling with various setups before settling on this as the simplest. In that time my iPad Air 1 battery dropped to 82% and the 12AH battery I used to power the hub dropped to 67% (hub had Focusrite 2i4, nanoPAD2, nanoKONTROL2, and QuNexus attached).
Do you know how much processing impact Auria adds when using as just a mixer in this situation? I tested something similar with Auria using an 8i6 a while back, and it 'seemed' that the addition of Auria pushed my processing threshold up more than I wanted. At that time, though, I was also running a few more intensive apps than what I eventually settled on for live purposes.
The image shows 7%, includes Jam Up. The main problem is, there are only three Apps I know of that can send to any physical outputs - Auria, Cubasis, and MiMix - and of those only Auria has Auxes that can be routed there instead of Main returns.

I'm not at a point where I can load it up, but I usually use MiMix on the Output slot with one or more chains for each input, and then a final chain where MiMix is the input and it feeds into effects and a DAW or AudioShare.
