In This Issue: Eviction Update NEW: Write the Governor  How You Can Help Share Tweet Forward Eviction Update The Appellate Term of the NYS Supreme Court has temporarily stayed the eviction pending the determination of our motion to stay the eviction until a determination of our appeal of the Decision issued in Landlord and Tenant Court.  The motion is returnable on October 30, 2024.  Yesterday we notified Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), the Corporation Council for the City of New York, and the City Marshal of this court order.  The City is already going into the Appellate Division this afternoon to overturn the order. We will update everyone on any decision from the court.   ✿ DONATE ✿ Send A Letter To The Governor & Mayor The Mayor and Deputy Mayor Torres-Springer don’t seem to care that thousands of people have written to save the garden. (994,321 letters had been sent before this change)  So we’re adding the Governor to the letter campaign. Which means everyone can send another letter!  We've extended our goal to 1,100,000 letters!  We will continue to work with Councilmember Marte on the private site proposal. The owners of two nearby sites are willing and ready to work on including affordable units in new developments as an alternative to destroying the garden. This solution provides more housing for those in need and preserves the garden with no loss to the community.  SEND A LETTER! The City is moving forward with their attempt to evict and destroy the garden. Our legal team is working hard and we are doing everything we can to achieve a solution that saves the garden and gets much-needed affordable housing at existing alternative sites within our Community Board and Council districts. Community green space and affordable housing should never come at the expense of one another!
