Announcing the new Hester Street Greenmarket

Please post to your bulletin boards and webpages, print to your calendars, and forward to your contacts!  For free color posters and flyers, please contact Lela Chapman at the email and telephone below.

Greenmarket is happy to announce the opening of our new Hester Street Greenmarket, on Essex at Hester Street in the Lower East Side, on Sunday, June 20.

Greenmarket is teaming up with Hester Street Fair, adding fresh food from local farms to the Fair's curated offerings of local goods and prepared foods.  "Everything is from local artisans and producers," says Lower East Side resident Jean Tsai.  "So you'll be creating a sustainable local economy while eating lunch, picking up presents (for yourself or others), and grocery shopping for the week."

Our opening day celebration features a special guest cooking demonstration by Broadway East chef Sasha St. Germaine.

Offerings on the Greenmarket's first day will include:

- plump Jersey vegetables, fruit, and homemade preserves from Phillips Farm;
- specialty and wild foraged greens from Woori Farm;
- orchard fruit, award-winning cider, and all-butter pies and pastries from Breezy Hill Orchard;
- fresh eggs and pasta from Knoll Krest Farm.

EBT / Food Stamps are welcome at the Hester Street Greenmarket.  The Hester Street Greenmarket will replace and build on our former Grand Street location, one block north.
