There are many ways of making this easy potato snack. My aloo chat recipe is a tasty addictive vegan and gluten-free snack bound to have you coming back for more. This one of the easiest chaat recipes that you will ever make.

The great thing about aloo chat is that it can be made to your taste! Delhi-style aloo chaat is very popular, but I am sharing a simpler recipe. This easy recipe makes a tangy, sweet, chatpata chaat and the recipe can also be halved, doubled or tripled.

However tamarind chutney can be skipped and you can still enjoy this potato chaat with a mix of the various ground spices and lemon juice. It can be served as an evening snack or as a starter snack before meals.

While we are at this aloo chat recipe, let me tell you that there is one more chaat snack made with Aloo Tikki or crispy potato patties. I have earlier posted this differently made Aloo Tikki Chaat recipe.

You can also air-fry the potatoes instead of frying and follow the rest of the recipe. I have tried this air-frying method and the potatoes tasted just as delicious and they were a bit lighter compared to fried aloo chat.

This Delhi style aloo chaat is standard Sunday evening Snacking in Denver house. It's something I almost always whip up when craving something chatpata, and the bold, spicy flavours make it perfect for holidays and festivals too.

Aloo Chaat is usually made of fried pieces of aloo or potatoes, which is then seasoned with various spices, coriander and tamarind sauces, and garnished with sev and fresh coriander. Sliced or chopped onions are also added for extra crunch and texture. This recipe is similar

I have used roasted cumin powder, chaat masala, chilli powder, mango powder, rock salt and a squirt of lime juice. Just before serving, drizzle this aloo chaat with sweet tamarind chutney, sliced onions, coriander and nylon sev (bhujiya).

Aloo chaat is a popular Indian street food primarily made from crispy fried potato cubes flavoured with ground spices and sweet-and-sour date and tamarind sauce, and finished with coriander leaves and crunchy pomegranate seeds.

i have posted several other chaat recipes till, but i have to admit that alu chaat recipes is the most simple yet tasty recipe. traditionally aloo chaat recipes are prepared by deep frying the potato to wedges. however i have shallow fried the boiled potato cubes which makes it less oily and more healthier. perhaps boiling the potatoes and shallow frying may introduce an extra step, but certainly more healthier and cleaner as compared to just deep frying. having said that deep frying is more dearer to taste.

as compared to any other indian chaat recipes, even aloo chaat recipe is open ended. there are several variations to this fast food snack which changes with each regions. while, some prefer to keep it simple without adding onions or sev, but i personally like the combination of all toppings. if you prefer you can skip adding curd, onions and fine sev with just spice powders like chaat masala and chilli powder. also if you are vegan than add few drops of lemon juice which would help to introduce sour taste to it.

finally i would like to highlight my other indian chaat recipes collection with this post. particularly, bhel puri, sev puri, pani puri, dahi puri, samosa chaat, pav bhaji, vada pav, aloo tikki, hara bhara kabab and masala papad. in addition do visit my other recipes collection like,

Alu chat (also spelled as alu chaat, aloo chat, or aloo chaat) is a street food originating from the Indian subcontinent, it is popular in North India, West Bengal in Eastern India, Pakistan and also in parts of Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. It is prepared by frying potatoes in oil and adding spices and chutney. It can also be prepared with unfried boiled potatoes[citation needed] and also adding fruits along with spices, lime juice and chutney.

Spices & herb: I have used the most common spices that we use in chaat for this recipe like chaat masala, cumin powder, kala namak. Fresh cilantro and mint add freshness to the chaat.

8- Transfer to a large bowl and add lime juice (or lemon juice). Start with adding 2 tablespoons and add an extra tablespoon after taste testing. This is a tangy chaat so I usually add the entire 3 tablespoons.

You then add the cubed potatoes into the saucepan, along with spices. The spices for this recipe include red chilli powder, masala chaat and cumin powder. You then fry the potatoes and spices together until cooked through.

One serving of aloo chaat contains about 212 calories, depending on the size of the serving. It also contains vitamin B1, vitamin B3 vitamin B9 (folic acid) and is packed full of vitamin C. These vitamins are essential to maintain a healthy immune system.

The spices used in aloo chaat are also very beneficial for your health. Many of them contain anti-oxidising properties, aid digestion, protect against heart disease, can reduce stress and aid weight-loss.

Aloo chaat is again a very popular chaat in the Delhi region especially. My favorite chaat stall in my city in India makes this amazing aloo chaat where he deep fries potatoes and then toss them with spices and chutney.

4- Add 2 tablespoons oil, 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala, 1/2 teaspoon kashmiri red chili powder and 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder to the potato slices and toss and mix using your hands until the slices are coated with the oil and spices.

Chickpea Aloo Chaat Bowl. Mint cilantro Potatoes, spiced chickpeas, tamarind date chutney bowl with onions, tomatoes and chaat masala. Papri Aloo Chana Chaat Bowl. Vegan gluten-free soy-free nut-free Recipe

This bowl is deconstructed Papri Chaat. Papdi Chaat or Sev Poori dish contains crackers that are topped with mashed potatoes often flavored with chaat masala + mint, boiled or sprouted chickpeas/brown chickpeas, some chopped onion, tomato, tamarind chutney, mint cilantro chutney, and a sprinkle of Sev (crisp chickpea flour vermicelli noodles). This deconstructed bowl can be served as is like a bowl, or top each cracker with the bowl ingredients as you like.

The bowl comes together quickly, if you already have tamarind date chutney or mint cilantro chutney to use. Toss the potatoes in the mint chutney, toss chickpeas in chaat masala. Assemble, drizzle load of tamarind chutney, chopped onion, tomato, other veggies like cucumber if you like and serve. Without the crackers, this recipe is oil-free.

While the potatoes are still hot, transfer them into a bowl or a pot. Add in the chaat masala, chilli powder, amchur powder, lemon juice, sliced onions, green chillies, roasted cumin powder, salt and amchur powder. Cover bowl or pot with a lid, then give it a good shake!

Sweet, Spicy & Tangy this Tater Tots Chaat is loaded with an incredible combination of flavors and textures. A simpler version of the traditional North-Indian Aloo chaat, this recipe uses crispy air-fried tater tots that are layered with chickpeas, creamy yogurt, spicy green chutney, sweet-tangy tamarind chutney, crunchy onions, and sev.

Chaat or Chat is essentially a sweet-spicy-savory dish that can be served as a snack, appetizer, or light meal. In India, Chaat is often sold in small street-side stalls and people often enjoy them after work or on weekends. Some of the classic dishes include lip-smacking pain puri, papdi chaat, pain puri, bhel, dahi puri, samosa chaat, potato chaat, etc.

Chaat is best served immediately at room temperature. More chutneys, yogurt, sev, and ground spices can be added to individual bowls as per your taste preference. I love to serve chaat with mango lassi, cardamom lassi, aam panna, lemonade, or chai. It is also my go-to appetizer when hosting a birthday party, Diwali, or Holi get-togethers.

Aloo Chaat is best served immediately. If you are making this for a party, simply keep all the ingredients ready to go in individual bowls and assemble just before you are ready to serve. Any leftover chaat can be refrigerated for a day. The Tater Tots will absorb the liquids so when serving simply add yogurt mixed with sugar + salt and top off with a few tablespoons of crunchy sev.

I first tried aloo chaat just like this on a trip to Mumbai. The moment I tried it I was hooked and wanted to try many other chaats. You will find a good selection on this blog and they can be enjoyed on their own or together. I like to make four or five when we have friends over. They always go down well.

I really hope you enjoy this simple chaat aloo as much as my family and I do. Feel free to play with the recipe and adjust the flavours to taste. If you want it to be spicier, add some chilli powder or chopped fresh chillies. You can also add more yogurt for a creamier dish or simply add whatever you feel will make the recipe better for you.

There's almost always an aloo (potato) chaat vendor at the Old Junction train station near Chandni Chowk. I usually hear the sizzle of frying potatoes and catch their earthy aroma before I spot him. This chaat recipe is found throughout most of northern India and also makes an appearance in some eastern and western regions, where the ingredients very based upon what vegetables are in season; that said, tomatoes, red onions, radishes, and cucumbers are all frequent dance partners.
