The first LER ride of the year, a 100k populaire starting and ending
in Mt. Vernon, is this coming Sunday. So far, the weather for ride
day looks awesome - 50 degrees in January! Mt. Vernon's only about an
hour away from Olney, so I'm going to ride. Anyone else going?

Sunday's ride should be awesome! The latest forecast shows 59 degrees
with a south wind (the route goes south from MTV to Thompsonville and
back). Coming back should be big ring all the way! See the website
for details. www.lerandos.com

Let me know if I can expect you. I can have your cards made up and
save some time.

Four riders (Miles, Gail, Doug, Ben) took off from Mt. Vernon this
morning. The meteorologist missed the mark a little today - 35 to 40
degrees and foggy rather than 59. We fought the wind to
Thompsonville, but had a nice, easy ride back. I was surprised to
find that I'd ridden nearly 5,000 miles to Thompsonville, but only
31.7 to get back. Apparently, I took a quick side trip to the middle
of the Indian Ocean - average speed 1,173 mph! Turns out a plasma
cloud from the sun passed by Earth today, effecting some electronic
devices. It was a good way to start the randonneuring year!
