Four riders (Miles, Gail, Doug, Ben) took off from Mt. Vernon this
morning. The meteorologist missed the mark a little today - 35 to 40
degrees and foggy rather than 59. We fought the wind to
Thompsonville, but had a nice, easy ride back. I was surprised to
find that I'd ridden nearly 5,000 miles to Thompsonville, but only
31.7 to get back. Apparently, I took a quick side trip to the middle
of the Indian Ocean - average speed 1,173 mph! Turns out a plasma
cloud from the sun passed by Earth today, effecting some electronic
devices. It was a good way to start the randonneuring year!
