BRIDGEPORT MAN KILLED IN BICYCLE ACCIDENT

A Bridgeport man was killed after he was struck by a car Tuesday morning, at around 8:20am, on a Lawrence County Road.
According to Illinois State Police, in Effingham, 19-year-old Kaitlyn McKinney, of Bridgeport, was driving southbound on Lawrence County Road 800E, and she stated that she looked at her radio as she was driving up a hill, when she looked up she saw a bicyclist, couldn’t stop in time, and struck him with her car. The bicycle was ridden by 41-year-old James Kasinger II, of Bridgeport. He was transported to Lawrence County Hospital, in Lawrenceville, where he was pronounced dead.
State Police ticketed McKinney for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
As a large vehicle driver, let me be the first to say, that this should result in a permanent loss of her license. I realize that it could happen to me as a driver - I drive nearly 2500 miles a week. But she just can't be allowed to say "sorry" and go on with her life as if nothing has happened. She's 19. This should cost her a license. She could ride a bike, if she's not too afraid of some stupid teen-age driver killing her.
