Hi all (especially for those using LeoFS on Linux)
This is the important announcement about the change we will make in
the next release 1.3.3 that will be published within the next week.
LeoFS package generated by leofs_package >= 1.1.0 will require the
system to run LeoFS as non-privileged user `leofs` by DEFAULT.
To be precious, this will be enabled after the below two PRs merged.
-
https://github.com/leo-project/leofs_package/pull/4
-
https://github.com/leo-project/leofs/pull/697
This is the great progress in terms of security.
While this improvement comes with free for new installations,
however for those who are already operating LeoFS, you would have to
pay a little bit cost to benefit from this.
Fortunately,
Vladimir Mosgalin (@vstax) has achieved a great job writing up the
detailed documentation that walks you through the migration process
according to your existing installation.
Please check the doc (the status is alpha so maybe changed in future)
out if you consider the upgrade.
