Hi guys. I originally imagined that our next release of Leonardo would be done by the end of the year, named Glowing Green. However, it's become clear that this won't happen. The major big feature for Glowing Green was meant to be the sharing server. I've realized that now this is a far more complicated feature than I originally thought. We have to consider security, scalablity, multiple servers, and most importantly how the UI will be presented to the users so that they know what they have shared and what is private. I think the Sharing Server feature is so important that I don't want to rush it. On the other hand, there are lot of nice features and important bug fixes that have gone into Leo since Ruby Red Shipped. So...
For New Years we will have a new release called Ruby Red Reloaded. It will have the bug fixes and usability improvements (infinite canvas, rulers, grid lines, translations, flickr sharing) along with a few others coming in the next week or two. We will focus on making this a very polished version ready for a wider audience, but without the sharing feature.
I then propose we continue working on the sharing server in a branch and push Glowing Green back February or March. That will give us the time to make sure sharing is done right.
Thoughts?
