You could experiment with a matt black tube wrapped around the front of the remote control so that the IR beam is not as wide and maybe will not interfere with the other TVs. That tube could be the width of the remote or a thinner tube in front of the LED. You should also look at nearby reflecting surfaces because the IR beam can bounce of these to the TV - maybe remove them or change their colour/texture.
Direct code entry is another way to connect to your TV or other devices. Unlike auto-programming, this option requires the correct code to be entered for each device. Some devices might have a code sheet on them that you can reference, or you can find device codes by searching online.
A universal remote imitates the signals sent by your original remotes, allowing you to control multiple devices at once. It can turn your devices on and off, scroll through menus and access most of the features found on your original remotes.
How can I run a program on a remote Windows PC in our network without the need of killing an existing remote-desktop-connection? I only need a command line for running the program and getting its results.
Eligible Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) members can now complete enrollment interviews with a CBP officer through video teleconferencing, while ensuring that the remote interview process maintains high security and privacy standards.
Some renewing Global Entry members who are conditionally approved are eligible to participate in the pilot. Renewing NEXUS, FAST and SENTRI members will be integrated into the pilot through a phased approach. First-time TTP applicants are not yet eligible to participate.
CBP will use Zoom for government videoconferencing software to conduct the remote interviews. Applicants should ensure that their computer, tablet, or smartphone has a working microphone and camera, and that their device is capable of running the Zoom platform prior to scheduling their interview appointment.
Applicants who schedule remote interviews will be able to access a virtual waiting room up to 15 minutes prior to their scheduled interview time through their TTP dashboard or the CBP OneTM Mobile Application, available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Interviews will take approximately 15 minutes. Applicants should be prepared to show the following documents during their remote interview:
CBP continues to offer in-person interviews at TTP enrollment centers located in the U.S. Conditionally approved first time Global Entry applicants may continue to schedule in-person interviews at enrollment centers through their TTP dashboard or Enrollment on Arrival, which CBP now offers to arriving international passengers at 69 airports.
(To clarify, even if you are logged on interactively at a computer desktop, and also have another separate network logon to the same machine at the same time using the same credentials, those still count as two different logon sessions.)
This is simply against the security model of Windows itself and attempts to subvert it will be frowned upon. So you'll not likely find an easy, supportable way of doing this. It is technically possible, but it involves running as Local System, copying another logged on user's security token, and launching a process with that alternate token. You would need the Windows API for this, which is pretty much the only thing Powershell isn't very good at. See WTSQueryUserToken and CreateProcessAsUser in the Windows API for more detail on that.
One other idea, so as not to totally pee in your Cheerios, you might be able to accomplish this by remotely creating a scheduled task that launches the process. See -can-i-remotely-start-an-interactive-process/ for more info on that.
Edit: Oh, and I forgot... pretty sure PsExec with the -i parameter can do that. You have to supply the logon session ID. And have permissions to do it. It most likely uses the same Windows API that I mentioned, which leverages the fact that PsExec installs a temporary service that runs as Local System.
You can create a 'callable hook' on the remote machine: It's a scheduled task set to "run only when user is logged on," assigned to run under the account of the user who will be logged in upon execution. The action of the task is the executable you want to run.
Creating a scheduled task remotely is possible with either schtasks.exe or New-ScheduledTaskPrincipal in powershell. If the executable or "Action" item in the task is flagged as 'run as administrator' on the filesystem, the task will require a New-ScheduledTaskPrincipal credential to be attached during the task creation in order to set that property appropriately.
I have been trying to program my remote to use with my DVD player. When I get to the screen where it asks me to select the brand of my DVD player (and then get the codes associated with that brand), my particular brand is not listed. Can someone please tell me what to do, if anything?
The only thing I can suggest is to try to find out who makes the DVD player. It could be one of the listed brands with a supported code, just marketed under a different brand name. What is the brand name of player you have? Have you tried searching via Google or any search engine to see if there are any reports you can find that way? Could be worth a try.
However when you close your ssh session, most of the time the remote application will close. If you want to disconnect from ssh but leave the application running you need to launch it in a special way using something like screen (keeps the ssh session running in the background) or nohup, or another method. For more information on this there was recently another question on it.
A modern solution that should work with Wayland sessions as well, set up all the environment variables used in modern sessions (XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, GTK_MODULES, XDG_DATA_DIRS, XAUTHORITY, SESSION_MANAGER etc.), forward the application's console output to the journal, and run it in the background without stealing your ssh shell or quitting when you close the ssh session:

I just purchased a replacement remote. As I went to pair the new remote to my Roku device, I noticed that there is no pairing button. It is the basic standard remote (nothing fancy).
I researched how to pair the remote without the pairing button, and the only instruction that I found was to unplug the Roku stick, wait until the Roku screen appears on the tv, and then put new batteries into the remote and point at the Roku device.
Of course I have no idea what roku remote you bought? What model of roku you have? If this new roku remote has power key then its a Roku TV remote and uses a completely different IR code then Roku console streamers like express, premiere, or ultra.
I have the same problem, but have a ONN Roku TV. My dog ate the remote. The new remote doesn't have a pairing button. I've unplugged the TV. Removed the remote batteries. Plugged the TV back in amd reinstalled the remote batteries. No success
This new remote says Onn Roku tv on it? Does it say Roku tv on the remote at all? A regular roku remote for non-tv rokus use a different code set then roku tv do. Describe it? A Onn roku tv will respond to remotes from TCL, Insignia, sanyo, magnavox, westinghouse, philips, and jvc roku tv's, but not hisense or sharp. If it doesn't have Roku tv written it then its not a roku tv remote and won't work for you.
One last thing, does it have microphone button like on in my picture, or a key with a crescent moon? Microphone means its a wifi remote and should have pairing button in the battery compartment, moon its a Roku tv IR remote and should just work unless its a hisense or sharp roku tv remote.
I'm trying to remote debug an application that I have occasionally in the past without problem. I have a shared directory that I use for output on the remote machine, remote debugging tools are running on the machine and working fine. The folder has "everyone" permissions to be sure.
This is particularly odd because the file exists, it just created it, and I can execute it manually just fine, either locally, or on the remote machine. I've checked with Process Monitor and that suggests the file is fine, so Visual Studio seems to be able to see the program just fine, not sure what's causing the error.
The simplest and cheapest way that I can think of would to issue KCL commands over TELNET. On the robot you will have to assign a password for the KCL user, and set $RMT_MASTER to 2. On the pc side of things, you can use a terminal emulator such as Tera Term, or simply enable it on Windows and use the command prompt or PowerShell.
