Dear
all,
It looks like Google
has come up with a new video chat service:
According to
the blog, the Google video chat service this time was designed by using Internet standards such as XMPP, RTP, and
H.264, which means that third-party applications and networks can
choose to interoperate with Gmail voice and video chat. In other words, open source client connecting to Google video chat services should be possible.
It will be interesting to see when Google will publish the API for
making use of such service. And maybe, just maybe... in the near future, we will
see 3+ party video chat conference on Google Mail networks as H.264 should be a
very efficient video codec.
More on Google video
chat service (at the moment, for browsers under Windows
only)
Best Regards,
Wily Yuen
