Dear all,

It looks like Google has come up with a new video chat service:

According to the blog, the Google video chat service this time was designed by using Internet standards such as XMPP, RTP, and H.264, which means that third-party applications and networks can choose to interoperate with Gmail voice and video chat. In other words, open source client connecting to Google video chat services should be possible.

It will be interesting to see when Google will publish the API for making use of such service. And maybe, just maybe... in the near future, we will see 3+ party video chat conference on Google Mail networks as H.264 should be a very efficient video codec.

More on Google video chat service (at the moment, for browsers under Windows only)

Best Regards,
Wily Yuen

It turns out there's always hope for what one wishes:  =)

Multi-party video conference implement with the new Mingle protocol, an extension to XMPP:

Not saying Google video chat will support Jingle now, but this possibility makes an exciting good show even those Telecom companies (like Verizon) in awe.

More information:
Once you have installed the plug-in, GMail will automatically detect
the existence of the plug-in and allow incoming video or voice chat
request.
There is *NO WAY* to disable the feature unless you uninstall the plug-
in.
I hope that Google will provide an option for us later.
