  1. CTRL-H to edit a node headline.
  2. Find any character in the headline to delete.
  3. Press DELETE.
  4. Focus immediately goes to node body rather than staying in the headline text.
This is somewhat recent and I don't know which version introduced this new behavior. Before I file a bug, I thought I would ask here first if this was intentional and if so, what's the rationale? If not, then I'll file a bug (I consider it one as it's very inconvenient if I want to delete more than one headline character at a time).

Running Windows on a near-current devel branch, I don't get this behavior.  I tried both as described by Rob, and by backspacing to delete a character, and neither time did the focus go to the body.  Going back to the release version 6.3, I also don't get this behavior.

I also tried the 6.3 release version on a Linux VM and did not get Rob's behavior.  I wonder if closing Leo and restarting might restore the original behavior (though I imagine Rob has already tried this)?

My setup:

Leo 6.4-devel, devel branch, build 99fcd556ed
2020-11-28 07:01:52 -0600
Python 3.7.3, PyQt version 5.9.6
Windows 10 AMD64 (build 10.0.19041) SP0

Losing focus from headline only happens w/ DELETE, not BACKSPACE and yes, restarting Leo makes no difference. I started noticing something odd a few days ago, but just this morning looked at it more closely to make sure I wasn't imagining things. I will post a bug report shortly, though I wonder if I'm the only one who sees this behavior.

I just updated my devel branch to the latest version, and now I do get your behavior.

Leo 6.4-devel, devel branch, build b80354f543
2020-12-01 13:15:07 -0500
Python 3.8.5, PyQt version 5.15.1

Windows 10 AMD64 (build 10.0.19041) SP0

This behavior was present in build b80354f543. It was not present in build d1bd39e14d

Thanks for confirming that. I will add your comment to the bug report linked here.
