Leo 6.4b3 is available here. Many thanks to all who have contributed.

The "devel" branch is open, but please don't push anything without a PR.

Expect Leo 6.4 final in about one week.

I'll be working on a pypi distribution in the next day or so.

Done in the 6.4 branch. Please test as follows:

python -m pip install --index-url https://pypi.org/simple/ --no-deps leo==6.4b3

It installed and ran normally.  I did see a message on the console: cleaning C:/Users/tom/.leo/spellpyx.txt. That bothered me, but when I look at the file it still had the words I remembered entering.  What is this "cleaning" supposed to do?  If it isn't removing my added words I'd rather not see it at all.

Hello Edward,

Worked w/o any issues in a Fedora 33 VM w/i qubes OS R4.0

Thanks a lot for also testing the PyPI variant for Leo up front !

With kind regards,

Iirc it removes duplicate words.

I just installed from Pypi into a brand new Debian V11 VM and there were no hitches.

I did have trouble on my older Debian V10.10 VM - I couldn't get Leo to run, neither the older 6.3 nor the new 6.4b3.  It is some problem in the Qt libraries.  Other projects have seen the same error message, and some people were able to fix it my changing versions of PyQt or PyQtWebEngine.  I wasn't able to do so.  That's why I created a new VM, to try to avoid mix-and-match problems.

Thanks for this report.

Separately, I have just closed #2191 because I suspect it was due to Qt bugs in old distributions.
