Caution: as of rev 4881 @auto ignores apparent section references

The code changes were straightforward, and a new unit test passes, but
that is hardly the point.

This *will* have important consequences for anyone who has ever used
sections in @auto files. I suppose this is unlikely, given the
typical use case for @auto, but it's not impossible.

Please report your experiences with @auto, especially any problems,
immediately.
