Hello Edward, hello Matt,

This is a follow-up to the problems I experienced when trying to access the "leo development" branch w/o using Git.

I did start with a complete new install of **all** python environments - and - I started w/o an existing "~/.leo" directory.

To be precise, I renamed the existing one to "~/.oel".

I start w/ the good news first: I was able to install "Leo-master" as well as "Leo-devel" successfully w/o using Git.

Soon after however the problems started. - I wanted to copy a few of the nodes from "~/.oel/myLeoSettings" to the new "~/.leo/myLeoSettings".

I opened "~/.oel/myLeoSettings" explicitely, and from now on, both "Leo-master" as well as "Leo-devel" open "~/.oel/myLeoSettings", whenever I perform

* File > Open Specific Leo File > myLeoSettings.leo - or -
* Settings > myLeoSettings.leo

Please let me know, which other informations you need to analyze this problem!

With kind regards,

Viktor

After I explicitely opened "~/.leo/myLeoSetting.leo" using

* File > Open-Outline > and navigating to it ...

I did add the setting "create_nonexistent_directories" and saved the outline.

Since then the behaviour has changed:

"Leo-6.0-final" does not open "~/.leo/mySettings.leo" at all, if "~/.oel/mySettings .leo" is open.

"Leo-6.1-devel" now handles it correctly.

At least I'm really confused about the seen behaviour ...

With kind regards,

Viktor

that does sound strange. What happens if you open ".leo/myLeosettings.leo" using "File >> Open-outline" instead of opening "Open specific Leo file"?

That's what I did, when the behaviour changed - and - Leo-devel no longer shows the described behaviour, while Leo-master does not open "~/.leo/myLeoSettings" at all.

With kind regards,

Viktor
