This branch fixes #1617.

Today's work did the following:

- Eliminated separate nodes for some kinds of (too) simple bare functions.

- Carefully moved trailing comments to the following node when possible.

A human can see that comments immediately followed by an @others could also be moved, but I have not found a way to do that reliably. For now, I'll call the code good enough.
