It is actually very easy to access high quality information and avoid nonsense on the internet:
Start with those who demonstrably know what they are talking about.
In scientific, technical, engineering, mathematical and medical topics, this means that you start with mainstream theories. Assume, as a starting point, that experts actually do understand the field to which they have devoted their life :-) To believe otherwise is a form of insanity.
You can safely ignore conspiracy theorists and crackpots. The burden of proof is always on the crackpots to prove their nutty ideas. Experts have no obligation to disprove nonsense.
You will typically find healthy disagreements between experts. It is up to you to respect those disagreements and to understand their basis.
Summary
Finding the truth on the internet is easy:
1. Avoid social media, crackpots, liars, and conspiracy theorists. That includes Fox News.
2.
Start with those who do know what they are talking about. You don't have
to end there. You can look for responsible criticism from recognized
experts.
