Hi Madghis,

Now that Lentigram 2 is available I'm planning to create a tutorial/manual for the software in August.

Unfortunately, a complete course on how to create lenticular images would require a lot of time. There are many different ways to take or digitally create the initial sequence of images for 3D or flips. Different type of lenses, a multitude of different processes to print/laminate the interlaced image on the lenticular support which depends on the size of the support too. It is not clear who would be the target audience for such course either: hobbyists, large size/volumes printing companies, artists?

A full tutorial on the topic would be as difficult as to make the software itself and way more expensive.

I do not mind answering questions on the forum and share my own knowledge about lenticular, but I would need some general information first. In your case:
  • What kind of images do you want to create, 3D or flips?
  • How big do you want to print?
  • Is it for hobby, small business?
If it is a hobby, any small Canon or Epson printer which can print a decent quality picture would be sufficient. Then you would need a small cold laminator and optionally a small light box to help you align the interlaced image. In relation to what kind of lens to buy I would need first to know what type of images you want to produce.

Cheers,

Giovanni

Hi Madghis,
Hope you are well.
There is tutorial on you tube which is a good start.
Secondly, not everything can be covered in tutorial. I started 6 months ago and still learning. Giovanni, has been of great help in answering my questions.
Just start and you will get there.
Cheers

Regarding a tutorial,

I think a video screen capture like you have done in the past would be very helpful. I would like to watch one on the Advanced Options of: Transition Speed, Bokeh, and Side Images to blend.

Thank you,

Michael

PS: I tried the WebM simulation option and thought it looked very good. I found a free plug-in that lets you open those movies in Adobe Premiere:

Without the plug-in Premiere could not open them.

I will try do to several videos showing different sections of the application.

In relation to webm I know it is not the best format. Unfortunately mp4 is protected by a series of patents and I cannot include it into Lentigram. Google has the same issue with YouTube videos and that is why webm was created in first place.

I would have to pay estimated royalties for all mp4 video which are produced by the application, which would make me automatically bankrupted. Or alternatively I would have to make Lentigram opensource. Or I could sell everywhere in the world except US where those patents are registered. In EU we have the concept of Software Copyright but fortunately not that of Software Patents.

The best option so far is to convert webm format into mp4 using an opensource sotware called HandBrake: https://handbrake.fr
It is excellent and also available on Windows, Linux and Mac.

I forgot to mention that you can play webm videos on Mac using a free software called VLC: https://www.videolan.org

Issues with patents an lack of native support on MacOS for webm is the main and only reason why I want to include a webplayer directly in Lentigram as part of version 2.
