Hi

Not sure if this group is still active but I have some call to introduce special colours into a lenticular design.  png itself does not support spot colour so I would need to add  spot to the interlaced file afterwards which would be kind of tricky.  Are there any workarounds tht anyone has tried?

Can you please elaborate more? Do you have any examples you can show? What do you mean for "spot" color?

Hi Giovanni

Sorry my reply message seemed to vanish before.  I will try sending again.
What I mean is I have a printer with extra inks.  CMYK white and fluoro yellow.

To use these colours on the printer I create an image in photoshop with extra channels.  So I add a spot colour for the white and a spot colour for the fluoro yellow.
I place some artwork in the new channels and save the image.

In my printer software it picks up the extra channels and I can assign them to the special inks.

From what I can see Lentigram and our other interlacing  software cannot work with extra channels.  So I would need to find some sort of workaround using the interlaced image.

Example of the spot channel attached. I do not think png supports spot channels but tif does.  I drop the tif into lentigram but the spot channel is ignored.

Unfortunately, it is not possible with Lentigram.

I have an idea that may be worth experimenting with, though.

A standard image has 4 channels: RGBA.

We could take the sequence of images we want to interlace and generate 4 different sequences in greyscale, where each new sequence represents a different channel.

We interlace these sequences separately, and then we recombine them back in Photoshop, or a different software.

If that works, you could add any number of extra channels; you would just interlace them separately.

I bet this works.

I think that will work too.  thanks for that I will definitely try that as a method.

Hi,
I'm working with lenticular images. Are you creating a 3D Image or a flip image?

I don't produce much 3D lenticular.  I find it lacks depth with large format printing.
We used to print 3D on 10LPI lenses and got ok 3D results.  Most customers just want simple flips.  So we generally print 1200x1800mm flip lenticulars.

Ok, we use 20lpi sheets to produce large format 3D prints.

We never printed with spot colors. But I find it interesting and will try this method. I honestly have some doubts, but I'm looking forward to find a solution.

Hi Dan,

I'm alright, what about you?

Unfortunately, there have been no changes in the software since we last talked.

Regards,

Giovanni
