Mag0 behavior

Hi,

This is almost a reproduction of a previous post that I launched, but I would like to get a more general feel for the problem.

I have recently had some serious problems using the v6.8 code to run simulations and found that the problem lied within the perturbing galaxy catalog. In short, the chi^2 calculation would give 0.000 several times, which resulted in a general chi^2 of 0.
At first I thought that Lenstool simple did not like some of my galaxies, because when I pulled them out of the catalog the model ran fine. But then I realized that the galaxies Lenstool didn't like was the galaxies with a Magnitude higher than the Mag0 set in the parameterfile.

So my question to the general Lenstool community here is. Have you experienced the same behavior? That if you set Mag0 to be lower (higher number) that the brightest galaxy in your pertgal catalog, the model will give a bunch of 0 as Chi^2, from time to time during the run?

Cheers,
Michael Hansen

Hi Michael,

No, I never experienced this behaviour. Maybe there is a typo somewhere in the catalog or in the .par file. Did you put a header #REFERENCE at the top of your pertgal? What format did you choose for filein keyword in the potfile section?

Cheers
Eric
