Arabeem Ottakom P. Madhavan Nayarum in Oru Marubhoomikkadha (transl.The Arab, the camel, and P. Madhavan Nair in a desert tale), or simply Oru Marubhoomikkadha, is a 2011 Indian Malayalam-language romantic comedy film directed by Priyadarshan and written by Abilash Nair.[1] The film stars Mohanlal, Mukesh, Bhavana, Lakshmi Rai and Shakti Kapoor. The film was a commercial success at the box office. Oru Marubhoomikkadha was the 200th film of Mukesh. This film was inspired from the Hollywood movies Nothing to Lose (1997),Excess Baggage (1997) and Serendipity (2001).[2]
The initial title of the film was Arabeem Ottakom P. Madhavan Nayarum but later the title was changed to Oru Maruboomikadha and finally to the current title. In the Persian Gulf region the film was released under the title Oru Marubhoomikadha. This was following tremendous pressure from NRIs in the Persian Gulf.[5][6] There were reports that the Arabs were unhappy with the initial title and also hinted at banning the release of the film in the Middle East.[7]
For the first time in Malayalam film industry a movie will be released in two names. Priyadarshan- Mohanlal team latest venture Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum comes under two titles. In various centres of India and Kerala the movie will be released as Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum while in gulf countries it will be named as Oru Marubhoomi Kadha. The movie which is scheduled to release on 2011 November 4 as Bakrit release will be full packed comedy movie with all the ingredients to be called as a typical Priyadarshan movie.
Immense pressurization from the keralites living in Gulf countries had made the director change the name of the movie to Marubhoomi Kadha which will be released by the name in gulf areas. Like Malayalam movie Arabikadha, this movie too tells the story and life of keralaties living in Gulf countries. After Kilichundan Maambazham, a movie from Priyan-lal combination has much expectation among the movie lovers. The cast of the movie include Mukesh, Nedumudi Venu, Suraj Venjarammood, Bhavana and Laxmi Rai.
Music of the movie is composed by M.G Sreekumar while the cinematography is done by Azhagappan. The movie is being produced by Ashok Kumar, Jamal Al Nuaimi and Naveen Shashidharan. Bollywood actor Shakthi Kapoor plays the role of the 'Arabi'. This movie is released by Seven Arts.
