Basic questions on 12.3

Good Evening Gentleman, 

I would have three questions :

*  1/using 0.12.3 on OS X 10.8

* I seem to cannot auto import.

     * I am taking a working pgm , comment an import, 

     * and neither cmd-R to rightick "Add import" on error seems to effect.

     * 

*  2/ when I rebuild metadata , how can I know it is finished and correct ? got no log messages.

* 3/ are there any trace or system logs ? where can I find them ?
