whiletrying to copy the tags from Flac files to newly generated .mp3- or .aif versions of the same files, i noticed that tags for Beatgrids and Cue Point Markers of the copys will not get read by the Serato DJ Software.
The Serato-specific tags SERATO_BEATGRIDS, SERATO_MARKERS_V2 etc. are written to the mp3 copies (verified under "erweiterte tags"), and most of the "normal" tags as well as album art of the copys are shown perfectly in the Serato Software. But when loading the copied file to a deck, it will get reanalyzed and won't have any Cue-Points.
Not sure, on which site the problem lies, as Serato seems to behave a little sketchy in terms of reading tags: after deleting all tags from test-files and even removing the file from the crate in Serato and adding it again, some few tags as Artist etc (tags that correspond to my selected crate columns) are re-written to the files. Also tried the "Rescan ID3 Tag" button without any luck.
It would be great to be able to also copy the Beatgrids and CuePoint Markers to different audio-formats of the same tracks, as these are often set manually for each track, meaning lots of work for whole libraries.
First of all thanks for those quick replies! not sure, if i understood correctly, with regards to Florians reply i tried to copy the tags from my FLACs to newly created .mp4 versions (with aac codec) without success with the Beatgrids and Cue Point Markers (rest was copied and shown correctly in the Serato Software).
Thanks for your email. Please firstly note that saved beatgrids cannot be transferred between re-encoded tracks, as this information is not stored in the ID3 tag but rather in the Serato folder alongside other Serato library info. If they haven't been edited, you can still get the same beatgrid back by just analysing them
Hello everyone! I'm trying to make a proxy with the 1280 x 720 Apple ProRes, but to my surprise, it is not available to me.
Good to note that I do not have Final Cut Pro installed and I don't have motion.
I recently fresh installed everything on my mac trying to get 2 partitions going for another operating system (Mavericks) for use with a legacy product from Serato that is not supported on anything above that OS. in the past I downloaded a trial version of Final Cut which I guess helped me (without knowing) to obtain the codecs. But since my fresh install, I've avoided installing FCPX.
Now that I've discovered that in order to get the codecs I need, this pro software needs to be installed. I searched for another alternative and found out you can download the pro video formats and unpack the PKG. But after unpacking and transferring the codecs nothing really changed. I downloaded the Pro Video Formats 2.0.4 (due to the fact that the newer ones require Metal... more on my mac in a minute...)
currently, I don't know what else to do and I'm thinking of just giving up and downloading the free trial of FCPX.
The reason I'm trying to get this method to work is because of this tutorial.
Slow Computer? EDIT SUPER FAST! Premiere Pro Proxies Workflow
And these are the resources I was using to get the codecs to work without Final Cut Pro
INSTALL THE APPLE PRORES CODEC WITHOUT FINAL CUT OR PROAPPS
and here are my specs (please don't laugh)
Early 2011 13" Macbook Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
High Sierra 10.13.6
Adobe Premiere Pro 14.7.0 (build 23)
ProRes Low proxies are 1024x580, Medium is 1280x720. They are produced really quick, and you can select one clip, right-click/proxy/create proxie, when MediaEncoder finishes in a few seconds, click on the blue file name in that app, it opens the Finder/Explorer window, and you can check file properties.
and I prefer to create my own proxy settings usually matching my source pixel dimensions etc. with prores proxy... Always need to bang my head against the wall a few times to make sure I've got it right... but always test your workflow. generate a proxy for one clip and make sure it plays properly and that you're actually accessing the proxy before you spend hours generating all your proxies... this is the voice of experience speaking. Some sony cameras generate files with 8 audio tracks and it's been impossible to generate proxies that work (at least for me) ... there's a workaround if you have this problem...
The Video-SL interface blends seamlessly into the Scratch LIVE window and functions with the same ease and readability known from previous iterations. The plugin includes over two dozen video effects and sixteen different transitions to layer and transform your video content in real-time. Most of the effects and transitions are fairly standard. While Serato has no immediate plans to allow for user-custom transitions and effects, they did tell us that adding new ones is relatively easy, and they say they hope to add new content based on feedback from the Scratch LIVE forums.
Video-SL supports a number of video codecs, though the most widely-accepted are QuickTime-based. The H.264 QuickTime codec did an amazing job of looking brilliant while saving us a ton of precious hard drive space. In fact, of all the files tested, these seemed to be the most successful and should prove to be the codec of choice for most video crates. Unfortunately, neither MPEG1 nor MPEG2 (and .VOB) is currently supported for playback. Serato tells us that support for more codecs is coming. In addition to supporting MOV, MP4, M4A, AVI, FLV, MPG, MPEG and DV files, V-SL will attempt to play all third party codecs as well (DIVX proved successful during our testing). Audio and video playback are separate, so even when certain codecs caused V-SL to crash, Scratch LIVE would remain playing audio unscathed. The V-SL plugin would reboot in a matter of seconds with only a simple flash of your output monitor background. Needless to say, having two separate applications is a very smart and reassuring feature for live performances.
VIDEO-SL 1.0 has been built from the ground up to be tightly integrated with the TTM 57SL to provide a seamless all in one video mixing solution. Initial support is limited to the TTM 57SL as it is the only product in the current Scratch LIVE hardware line up that can provide the realtime control and integrated audio and video crossfading that VIDEO-SL requires. In future releases as the feature set of VIDEO-SL expands we will look to introduce support for other hardware from the Scratch LIVE line.

On the flip side, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. In ACID Pro 8 we don't have mp4 codec. Please save your projects in ACID Pro 7 without the videos. After that you can load them in ACID Pro 8.
Hey Mathias!
Thanks for the quick reply.
That's too bad. Do you know if AP8 or future versions will integrate m4a and mp4 codecs?
I recently started using Serato Video a ton, so half my files these days are video files. It was so awesome being able to drag them into AP7 and delete the video files associated with them, and then edit them like regular audio files. Unfortunately the 32bit architechture of AP7 didn't like using a few gigs worth of files per project :(
I would LOVE to see m4a and mp4 integration in a future update :) :) :) :) :)
Thank you again Magix! You guys are amazing!!!
Unfortunately, I don't know if that will be in future versions. We, obviously, will keep an open mind and if we get more feedback from the community regarding this feature, we might consider implementing it.
You chose the settings when rendering your videos, so it depends on what software you are using to make videos. Virtually all NLE software (Like Magix Vegas, etc.) can do this... I don't know about screen capture software if you are capturing gameplay.
AP9 FLAC and AAC format support - I'm trying to render multichannel files but I keep getting messages while rendering that my selection is not valid with the Project Properties and my selection option is being removed from the options list. I used to be able to render in AAC in AP8, what happened? I'm not seeing multichannel FLAC either.
I support a website that supplies me with the .m4a format audio regularly. So I'm jumping on the bandwagon plea for support that format Please? Converting the files to compatible (even lossless wave) formats, then re-digitizing, I'm losing a tonne of resolution.
Is Magix planning on doing this (some un-spoken to-do list), or are the customers just out of luck? Thank you
This thread refers to problems opening mp4 and m4a files in Acid Pro 8. Is that the version you are running? If so, there will not be any further updates to that version, I understand, so you will have to continue to use your workaround.
As a general point I would like to add the following: you wrote Converting the files to compatible (even lossless wave) formats, then re-digitizing, I'm losing a tonne of resolution. How, exactly are you doing this "conversion"? What software are you using? There is no way that digitally converting from, say m4a to wav should result in losing a tonne of resolution.
