I am a new-bie to Fortigate. I have a situation here. Im a new employer and my employer has wireless network accessing everything but fails to connect to Whatsapp. Every traffic is routed through the proxy (fortigate 300d, version 5.4). I have googled that whatsapp cannot go through the proxy and i am clueless as to how to by-pass the proxy. I have created mobile group including all mobile devices by OS (android, IOS, windows,) and i cant attach that group to policy, nor can i be able to attach one device to this policy.
Can some one please help me understand the best way to give whatsapp to our wireless users. I have tried to go the LDAP /FSSO way but stopped mid way because at the end of it all, i will need to by pass the proxy for whatsapp to work.
So my questions is in two parts: cant Whatsapp work in the current proxy setup or do i need to by-pass proxy? and how do i by-pass proxy here and your best advice to do this. This is urgent guys my new job might be on the line.
WA isn't blocked in any way by default. On the contrary, if you want to restrict access to it you will need to apply a webfilter or appcontrol signature. If the policy which governs internet access for your WiFi clients does not contain any UTM features (except for AV) then you should be able to use WA.
Let me note that my wireless is not administered by the Fortigate. Only the internet traffic is. The wireless is controlled from HP MSM. I believe my policies from LAN to WAN are fine because everything works fine except WA. Everything going into the internet is going through the proxy (wired and wireless). Any good practice in upgrading the version to the latest one, im at 5.4.0
Go ahead and upgrade to v5.4.8. Please read ALL the Release Notes of each intermediate release, it contains the sequence of versions you'll have to follow. An upgrade not only replaces the firmware but actively transcibes the configuration if needed. So, don't skip if you want to keep your config.

You only need to set the Browser that you are using as the default to handle the Whatsapp action. For example:
For Vivaldi
xdg-mime default vivaldi-stable.desktop 'x-scheme-handler/whatsapp'
Or for Chrome
xdg-mime default google-chrome.desktop 'x-scheme-handler/whatsapp'
I also believe that determining a default browser would not be the definitive solution, as I use many browsers every day. Ideally, the chat links would open in a new tab of the same browser I'm using, whatever it is.
@baltar , to be brutally honest... That is on you.
You are engaging in an unusual behavior by using multiple different browsers every day.
Your application defaults are a steady thing across your Operating System. Your default file manager, your default text editor... If you cannot settle on a default application, then you cannot use a default application.

I understand your point. I'm new to Linux and I bring this experience from Windows that I used previously.
There I didn't have any application for WhatsApp, whatever browser I was in, when accessing the conversation chats through the links, the system automatically identified that there was no specific application for this function and the browser gave me the option to continue via the web. whatsapp.com in a new tab.
A minha inteno no seria alterar o navegador padro a todo tempo, mas de alguma forma fazer com que todos os navegadores que uso no busquem um aplicativo para abrir os links do whatsapp, que eles abram por eles mesmo pelo web.whatsapp.com

After researching, I found out the problem might be about old versions of whatsapp (on receiver side). So I tested sending the link written in whatsapp documentation to a user (View the Terms of Service update).
After he clicked it and accepted the last conditions of use, I retried to run my automation and it worked. The template has been delivered.
I usually send it via Whatsapp....all this time I'm using the old version of evernote and it work perfectly to send photos or pdf... But hence I upgraded to android os10. The old one doesn't work anymore, everytime I try to open a note, it always said : the current note is not available right now... So I have no option other than upgrade it to the latest one...
Hmmn. When you try to send, exactly what links are you tapping? Is it a question of tap the picture, choose share to email? That still works for me. Or are you sending the whole note? - which also seems to work. I'm on Android 6.0, which might be the difference...
It's not link, when you save note with jpeg image, PDF file, tap the image, choose share using WA immediately image will sent like on screenshoot above & cannot open by receiver or sender. I'm able sent normally on Android 9 with Evernote version 8.1, but when update Evernote to 8.1 above the problem appear.
hi same issue here, for these past 2 months, i am not able to share my evernote, notes via whatsapp anymore. it was the most important and most convenient way of discussion with my other colleagues and suddenly i cant do it anymore. it is to me the most important feature that sets evernote apart from other apps.
now my options are only limited to email. which sucks, as i cant share it immediately, and if via email, my evernote share becomes a 'formal' discussion. as far as i am concerned, it is a MAJOR problem for evernote.
I appreciate the clearer explanations of the problem that have been given. Please be aware, though, that these are user forums. Evernote staff may look in, but this isn't a direct way of addressing them. @iRwanYoung and @Dr.AzmiShah, since you have Premium subscriptions, it might be best to submit the problems to Evernote support. This is difficult to do from within the Android app, but here is the Website:
All that being said, let me ask a couple of user-to-user questions. First, can you describe the exact procedure in WhatsApp that formerly worked to send material to Evernote? Also, since this formerly worked and no longer does, can you give the version numbers of WhatsApp, the Evernote Android app, and the Android system itself that you are currently using? This will be necessary when you submit the problem to Evernote, and may even be helpful for fellow-users trying to track down the issue. Lastly, @iRwanYoung, you said this happens only on Android. Is there a procedure that does work on other platforms? Again, this may help to pinpoint the issues.
Evernote staffers don't generally respond to individual threads in the public forum. For the personal touch (eventually) - raise a support request! Syncing may have become a lot busier given the number of people updating their accounts in the past few weeks. Do you still have an issue there?
Hello,
after restoring Whatsapp on my new device I'm trying to setup Chat-Backup using Google Drive.
However, I cannot define a Google Account in Whatsapp although my Google Account exists on the phone.
cmonty14 same issue here,.trying to set up backup says the account already exists and takes me back to square one. A few times had to start afresh losing all chats after reinstalling when experimenting with sandboxed Google.
I did a fresh install of whatsapp via APKMirror. Than installed Google Drive and logged in. Make sure Google Play Services is installed and you gave the permission to: "Contacts, Music and Audio, Network, Notifications, Phone, Photos and Videos, Sensors and SMS." **Note: I am not sure if all of these permissions are necessary but this was working for me **
