I cannot get epsxe to run on my 64-bit Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I have tried Running ePsxe 1.9 on Ubuntu 13.10 but it still does not work. I have downloaded BIOS from (PSX BIOS Pack (15 Images) - PSX - SCPH1001.BIN). Every time I click Run BIOS, the program crashes.

i got the ones in the video... i have no idea what hle bios are. i tried deleting epsxe from launchbox and reinstalling it and everything. this is becoming a lot of work for little to no reward. i was able to run snex9x fine but when i started on epsxe it has been no success.

You could also try pcsx-df (in the main repo) or psx (in AUR). PCSX-df is similiar to ePSXe with the plugin based system, and supports nice 3D rendering with antialias and such. pSX is trying to be more true to the real thing and it looks (as bad) as the PlayStation does/did.

After changing my PSX BIOS and messing with the video settings, I can now run games from ISOs. However, I can't get any sound whatsoever. Sound works perfectly in PCSX (which is less stable than ePSXe for me, so I'd rather not use it), but I can't get anything in ePSXe. My sound plugin is the epsxe-plugin-spu-alsa-1.9-1 package from the link in my first post. The plugin tests out perfectly. Despite that, I get the following error when I open an ISO or start the BIOS:

To be honest I have no idea, I run a custom kernel with ALSA OSS emulation and I've never touched anything except alsamixer to get both ALSA/OSS working. I'm going to assume the Arch stock kernel also has ALSA OSS emulation enabled so perhaps you need to load some extra module?

Well, when I don't have anything else running, mplayer works fine with OSS output, but ePSXe still has no sound. It gives me the same error. I also have alsa-oss installed, but that doesn't seem to be helping.

I don't think I can help more, as far as I know ePSXe was only released as a 32-bit compiled version and I'm running 64-bit. Try to get in contact with the person running that repo, he/she might be able to figure out the problem.

Is there such a thing? I think it would be really cool to play the remodelled Doom 1 and 2 maps on PC (I broke my Playstation). The Ultimate Doom maps were especially cool, as they were filled with all the Doom 2 bad guys as well, and some of the really ugly level design was redone to be more realistic (E1M3 Yellow door area makes it very obvious). Can anyone help?

Well, emulators themselves are legal but ROMS, except public domain ROMS, are not, so, therefore, if there was a ROM for PSX Doom, we could not URL you to it anyway. Play Console Doom by Kaiser, which has levels from PSX Doom and Doom 64.

Why would he need a ROM if he evidently has a copy of PSX Doom? Playing a game you already legally own on your computer in an emulator is perfectly legal.

Anyways, here's a page with several PSX emulators:
Whether they'll work with PSX Doom is anyone's guess.

A note about PSX emulators, the emulator itself is legal but in order to run any Playstation games at all it needs a copy of the PSX BIOS. Which is illegal unless you own a Playstation.

Not that anyone here truly cares. Just don't post links to any ilegal soft and we won't hurt you.

Bleem is an exception because they wrote their own BIOS (or so ive read). So that one's perfectly acceptable. Too bad that emulator sucks. Also, if you own a PSX, then you're allowed to copy the BIOS yourself (again, so I have read). I believe the instructions are listed somewhere on that site or one of its links.

Yeah, I'd second the recommendation of ePSXe. Takes a little while to set up (picking the right plug-ins to suit your machine and so on) but once it's done it works very well.

I found a bios file very quickly with the help of Google, and I haven't found a PSX game that I can't run with it yet.

Depending on which architecture you are running batocra on, you can only choose betwen PCSX_REARMED or MEDNAFEN (Beetle-PSX).
Which emulator do you want/need and why?
You can not add emulators in an easy way. You would have to compile your own batocera-version (so you would need some developing/programming skills).

joinski ok thanks, my problem is the compatibility of roms. the Libretro emulator uses the core you name but only reads the certain bios, I did an update to the bios I already have all of them but I realize that the emulator is the problem ... and I wanted to use ePSXe instead of Libretro, look in the folders Where it is stored modify the files to see if adding new ones by hand the bios could get to read them but I had no luck so it occurred to me to add another emulator and when I go to the menu they are to choose which one I want to use.
