Google Sheets lets you recordmacros that duplicate aspecific series of UI interactions that you define. Once you've recorded amacro, you can link it to a keyboard shortcut in the formCtrl+Alt+Shift+Number. You can use that shortcut to quickly execute theexact macro steps again, typically in a different place or on different data. You can also activate the macro from the Google Sheets Extensions> Macros menu.

When you record a macro, Google Sheets automatically creates an Apps Scriptfunction (the macro function) that replicates the macro steps. The macrofunction is added to an Apps Script project boundto the sheet, in a file titled macros.gs. In the event that there isalready a project file bound to the sheet with that name, the macro functionis appended to it. Google Sheets also automatically updates the scriptproject manifest, recording the nameand keyboard shortcut assigned to the macro.

Since every recorded macro is defined entirely within Apps Script, you canedit them directly within the Apps Script editor. You can even write macrosfrom scratch in Apps Script, or take functions you've already written andturn them into macros.

If there is already a script bound to a sheet, you can import a function in the script as a new macro and then assign ita keyboard shortcut. You can do this byediting the manifestfile and adding another element to thesheets.macros[] property.

The following manifest file example snippet shows the section of amanifest that defines Google Sheets macros. The sheets section of the manifest defines the name and keyboard shortcutassigned to the macro and the name of the macro function.

Manage merge request settings efficiently using macros. A Macro is a pattern of settings. Macro Extension - Auto Applying a Macro while creating an MR _VUGitlab Macro Extension - Creating a Macro and Auto Applying on Approve

I've been wanting this and thinking about it ever since I really started using Keyboard Maestro in earnest. I now have a way to trigger my macros from Google Chrome reliably and efficiently and I'm excited to share it with everyone.

Increase productivity by automating text-based tasks. This extension allows you to store 5 different text-based macros (such as email messages, instant messages, code snippets) that you can - with one button - copy to your clipboard so that you can paste the text into whatever application you need to.

Works, tho a bit unreliable as it's dependent on web page and text available (which may repeat on page). I find it works better to Find a link then just text strings. Would be nice if we could directly identify weg page 'controls' (fields etc).

Although ME cannot directly search for web controls, there are workarounds. Searching for links instead of other content can help get close. Then Tab (or Shift + Tab) one or more times to navigate to the control. Hunting for pixel colours can be made to work, as well. If a page is marked up with frames, you can use F6 or Shift + F6 to get you the desired frame. Another method is to click on a particular spot on the screen, and then send a series of Tabs, Shift + Tabs, F6, etc.

I have a number of macros that use all of the techniques listed above. In some cases, it takes hundreds or thousands of iterations to zero in on a target in a web app: e.g., a repeat loop that check every pixel along a path the width or height of a window.

Pixel colors are also handy to detect when a screen has changed. For example, you know that a certain color field will appear at a certain location when the next web page loads, so you loop repeatedly checking/waiting for it to appear.

Another technique I have found handy is to move the mouse pointer down the page until the pointer style changes, say from arrow to finger, then you know it is on a link that you can click. Of course you have to know approximately where to start because a page may have many links and you don't want to click the wrong one. Or when your mouse pointer has found a link, right-click it and copy link location to clipboard, then examine it to see if it is the one you want. You have to build a delay into the mouse-move repeat loop or you can easily move over the target faster than the pointer can change.

I developed a chrome extension AnyLink, it enables you to create link to any selected text and then share it to others. any chrome with AnyLink will scroll to and highlight your selected texts.here is the extension:

Create link to any selected text quickly and share anywhere. Safe and reliable: NO network request and all done absolutely locally!
AnyLink enables you to create links to any selected text in any web pages with only 3 steps:
1. select the text you want to highlight
2. right click to show the context menu
3. click the link to text menu item.
the link to the text will be copied to clipboard right away, you can then paste the link anywhere or make a bookmark with the link.
The selected texts would scroll into view automatically and be highlighted when page is opened with your shared link.
AnyLink is absolutely safe and reliable since there are NO network request and all done absolutely locally!
Hope you like it.

I like to watch streams from twitch while gaming but sometimes would be nice to have macro key to mute only google chrome / twitch. This keyboard have FN+F5 but it mutes all sounds including game sounds. Anyone want help me?

Sorry to necro this thread but this is exactly what I want to do and I cant figure it out. I have a K95 and I would like to have one of the G keys mute chrome/twitch while playing games. I have the extension that will mute all tabs with the shortcuts mentioned above. What I don't understand is how you "send" that shortcut to chrome instead of whatever application has focus. For example, if I am playing a game, pressing the keyboard shortcut does nothing until I ALT+TAB out of the game and click on chrome. Then the shortcut will work, but that is not all that helpful.

A macro is a recorded sequence of mouse and keyboard input actions. The Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Access) include built-in macro recording tools. With those tools, users can record repetitive tasks within the Office software and replay them whenever needed.

You can edit the scripts for those demo macros to tailor them to your requirements. For example, try changing the websites the Open6Tabs macro opens by right-clicking it and selecting Edit. Then delete the website addresses in that script to replace them with URLs for sites you want the macro to open. Remember to click Save & Close to apply the changes.

To open options for the iMacros extension, click Settings on its Manage tab. Then you can configure options on the iMacros Settings tab shown directly below. That tab includes replay speed and master password options, among others.

Wildfire is an iMacros alternative that offers unlimited macro recording without any action limitations. This Chrome extension also incorporates a unique diagrammatic workflow editor for modifying macros.

Wildfire includes a scheduler with which you can schedule macros to automatically start at specific times. Select Settings and Scheduled in the Wildfire window to open that tool. Then press the Add New Schedule to bring up the options shown below.

Select a macro you want to schedule in the Workflow drop-down menu. Then click the calendar button for the Date/Time box to schedule a macro to run at. You can configure the macro to play again by selecting an option on the Repeat drop-down menu. Press the Add schedule button to save the scheduled macro.

The iMacros extension is fine for recording relatively short macros. As iMacros has a recording restriction, however, Wildfire might be a better choice for users who want to set up more extensive macros.

As most of you know I have started moving away from the Windows world in my work life (Read More). Moving to Chrome OS has really brought some much needed perspective to how "Windows centric" our industry really is. One of the most significant areas is in the security space. For those of you living in Australia in the IT industry you will know of the Essential 8 (Previously ASD Top 4) and also how to measure the Maturity Level against the Essential 8.

Over the past few years I have been involved in a number of Essential 8 and Top 4 projects to secure a company or department's Windows fleet based on the Essential 8. I wanted to take a look at the Essential 8 as it applies to Chrome OS and how a company or department could interpret the Essential 8 for Chrome OS installed into a managed environment.

Application Control - Chrome devices do not run executables or Windows scripts so many of the traditional Windows attack vectors do not exist. However I will draw a comparison with Android apps and Chrome Extensions, These platforms are both protected (Google Play Protect and Google Safe Browsing). Also within the Google admin console you can control what apps are allowed and if required can totally shut down the apps store so that users can only install approved applications.
