b. Things I might add
First, decide the order of players. Roll of dice is good.
Basically all you need is a large flat area. Anything smaller than
3 square feet is probably too small. Don’t make it too big—
ships can get out of the battle too easily. Make it just large
enough so that when the teams begin, they won’t really be in
range to attack each other (the excepHon is the beam weapon,
but don’t worry about that now).
.
Also, debris adds interest and strategy. Asteroids, chunks of lost spaceships, and other space trash all make great obstacles to zoom and shoot around.
For the most part, the objective of this game is to ‘kill
everything that moves.’ This is easy, quick, and fun. If
you want to add another element to your gameplay
however, consider a more complex objecHve or goal for
a team to reach. Some ideas:
• First team to 10 kills
• Defend a civilian ship (and the other team(s) aMack)
• Last a certain amount of turns against a large
opponent
• Assign point values for different ships and keep track of
score that way
Slide #6: The Argument Rule
This is pretty basic. If you and your teammates
get in an argument and can’t come to a
conclusion, roll dice. Whoever rolls highest
gets their way. That simple. Keeps the game
moving.
• This rule is inspired by Brikwars’ ‘What I Say
Goes Rule.’ Thank you Mike.
Slide #7: Spacecraft
There are three spacecraft classifications: Strike Craft Frigates, and Specialty ships. When targeting ships, classification is taken into consideraHon. See the attacking portion for more info on Accuracy.
Strike Craft are the smallest battle‐capable ships
in your fleet. They should be on a stand that is
2x2 studs, and should be no larger than 2x2x3
stud dimensions. Strike craft have a single
weapon slot. Strike craft may ONLY equip
autoguns, light turrets, lasers, bombs, and light
missiles.
Note that the scale on the frigates and strike craft are off. The dimensions of the strike craft actually
represent an entire squadron of ships.
Frigates are the power of your fleet. They should
rest on a stand that is either 3x3 or 4x4 studs, and
should have dimensions no larger than 4x2x8 studs.
Frigates are medium/large sized, and have slots for
2 weapons. Frigates may use all weapons except
autoguns, lasers, and bombs. If desired, a frigate
may spend both of its weapon slots to equip 3 light
turrets.
Specialty Ships are meant to be ships that don’t fill
the normal roles. Neutral ships, space staHons, and
other miscellany things go into this category. They
rarely have any weapons and can have stats of
variable amounts. On stat cards indicate whether
the specialty ship is small or large, based upon size
restricHons on frigates and strike craft.
Slide 8: Stats and Application
Each ship has a certain set of stats.
These stats are:
• Name [name] – Either a
classification or a personalized name
for the ship.
• ClassificaHon [small, large, or
specialty (S or L)] – You know what
this is.
• Armor [number value] – The
amount of damage a ship can take
before it explodes in a massive
fireball! (P.S. fire does not exist in
space)
• Speed [stud value] – The number
of studs a ship may move in a turn.
• Weapons [names] – More on these
later.
