Is the power needed to power the engines and thrusters already factored in?  The page said something was already factored in, I'm assuming its Life Support.  Is FTL factored in too?  If somebody can clear this up, that would be nice.

I don't think power for engines/thrusters/life support is already factored in. I believe that a minimum should be. We have discussed this as a point that should be simplified in the ship building process. I am hoping that this part of the game can get streamlined a bit.

In the future, it will be - every ship will be able to accelerate/move 1 Unit/turn, turn 45 degrees, and will have a skeleton crew included.  Currently, only Life Support/Crew is factored in - the Power total you see on the site has already accounted for Life Support, including bonuses, where they apply.

Rich and I have been working on some new math which will include minimum movement as well, I'll release what I came up with later today for feedback.

My proposal can be found here, in the "Reference" sheet - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuLF5AA8yWDzdDVJa2lkczltMGkyRjNNR3p4U1VvUUE&usp=sharing

Columns H & I are the free power that gets the engines working and column L is the skeleton crew.  This means Column G is the total power you have to play with - should be more than enough to kit out larger ships with lots of fun toys, firepower, and armor to boot.  There's also two graphs there that compare the old power curves (and volume curves) to some new values I've come up with.
