Dear all,

I am pleased to announce the release of Legion 26.03.0.

  • Legion
    • Legion now logs geometry information about index spaces for Legion Prof to aid it in diagnosing performance issues
    • Legion provides a way now to specify that task-local memory pools are non-escaping so that the memory for the pool can be immediately reclaimed for future allocations even before the task starts running
    • Legion now treats passing empty futures between tasks as "control" dependences rather than before when it would break such dependences due to a lack of observable information flow
    • Legion Prof logging is now lighter weight and more efficient than it was previously
  • Realm
    • Realm is now managed as a Git subtree inside the Legion repo
    • Update Realm to version 77e872a5a9cafa9bb2fe6ae784c01d45ad691d5f
  • Tools
    • Legion Prof now uses an adaptive archive format which reduces processing time, memory and disk usage
    • Improvements to the Legion Prof viewer UI include a horizontal scroll bar and better responsiveness
    • Legion Prof now understands geometry and uses it analyze how efficiently tasks and copies are accessing instances which should help in diagnosing slow execution
